Alas, no -- if they had S1, I can't find it there now. Just the last S2 episodes.
Cable Drama: Still Waiting for the Cable Guy to Show Up with the Thread Name...
To be determined... (but it's definitely [NAFDA])
Oh, well SEason 1 is out on dvd - you could Netflix it.
I finally got a chance to watch the lst Justified, and I definitely think Coover wore the watch and manipulated things so Loretta would see it.
Isn't the crooked sheriff (Doyle?) Mags' son too? I thought he would be the heir to her throne.
I think Coover knew full well what he was doing too. In his head, it went "She sees the watch, she figures out her father is dead, she leaves, and Mama loves me again."
Yes, this, exactly.
Was Doyle the guitar playing one? The one who shot people because of Coover and Dickie`s fuckup? Then, yes, it does seem like he would be capable ebough to inherit. So maybe Mags apparent affection for Loretta really was just the "if I had a daughter" stuff.
But imagine growing up being Mags` daughter! And furthermore, imagine how it would have affected the boys. Her hold on them is so based in fear, so physical in its abuse, I can only picture how it would have been for them as kids. And if that were cast against a daughter she treated any differently, and whoo.
Did I mention how I love Mags? Wouldn`t want to get within miles of her myself, but as a character? Pure genius.

I'm thinking it would be a little hard (not impossible!) to run a criminal enterprise as sheriff?

You have NO idea. The sheriff is the best possible position to have when running a crime syndicate.
In fact, in season 1, the sheriff was running a crime kingdom of some sorts.
Well, yeah, I guess that makes sense. How better to not get busted?
How better to not get busted?
Plus, access to the people and materials you need to do pretty much anything you want.
Before I went to work with the cops, my cynicism was huge, after? Ironclad.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the police exist, but I have no illusions as to the nobility of some of the individuals in that fine institution.
Justified shows both ends of the spectrum in a fairly realistic way.
