You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I've been DVRing the Breaking Bad reruns so I can start watching, and I just watched the pilot. The setup is kind of awkwardly handled—Walter sees the big haul from a meth bust and is like, wow, look at all that money, as if he didn't know dealing drugs was very profitable. I do like the way he teams up with his ex-student, though, especially because he gets to threaten to turn him in. And of course because he's a chemistry teacher, he knows how to cook the BEST METH EVER!

The phosphene gas gambit was badass, but, holy crap. He just killed those guys, didn't he? He's in way too deep already, and it's only the pilot.

Trust my rage

He just killed those guys, didn't he?

The showrunner, whose name I forget, once said that the way he pitched the show was something about a good guy going bad, and watching the conscious choices that got him there.

I think it's interesting how, even though Jesse is the drug addict and the "screw-up" in almost everything, he is often the voice of reason and sanity in that show.

Although I also have to say that as someone who is currently representing clients who are being hunted by Mexican narco cartels, that show sometimes gives me the creeps.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We had dinner with our friend Keith last night. He has directed quite a few Dexters and I asked for any backstage info. He said it is a remarkably nice and sane group of performers and crew. Michael Hall is a very shy, serious guy but extremely nice--especially since he works 10-hour days on a regular basis. Keith Carradine was incredibly laid-back and he said he was "really kind of like the character he played, very centered." John Lithgow was charming and funny. Whatsherface who plays Debra is NOT anorexic, just skinny. She's bouncy and goofy and not your typical actress.

They shoot exteriors mostly here in Long Beach--they only spend a week in Miami each season. They plan out the wardrobe for the year, then take the principals down to Miami and shoot scenes of them in every clothing combo possible walking in and out of buildings. This footage is given to the directors to cut in with what they shoot to make it look like Miami.

Was he sad about Rubicon?

Very--he liked that show a lot. We all mourned its passing. He's going to be working on AMCs next big series though, which sounds interesting.
