Does Joan's husband seem to you like the kind of guy who can do simple arithmetic?
If he's away when the baby's born, I wouldn't put it past Joan to pull the actual date back to an earlier one so the numbers match up. This is Joan, we're talking about. The moment she decided to keep the baby, she figured out all the pertinent details.
OK I'll give you that Joan is super-competent. Dr. Rapey is an idiot. She'll find a way to fool him if she wants to. Or force him accept the baby as his even if he figures it out.
some thoughts about MM finale:

I have to laugh at this comment from an ad exec:
Still, I couldn't help but beam with pride when Peggy pitched—and won—the Topaz Hosiery account. I particularly loved that she was wearing the product. This is an age-old "rule" of agency life that unfortunately is not closely adhered to on Madison Avenue today: Use your (potential) client's product!
Er, did they not realize that Peggy was bullshitting when she said that? That was part of why her pitch was so successful!
Didn't see all of Rubicon yet.
MM: You know, I think that when Don is in California he is more "himself" - and maybe that being with Megan in that setting is actually why he proposed. Not just that she is so good with the kids. He's more relaxed in California and she is also a more relaxed personality. Maybe he is trying to get some of that into his life back East.
I also liked the way that she reacted when Sally spilled the milkshake. the look of shock on Don and the kids' faces when she said it was no big deal was really terrific. It's like he realized that it wasn't a big deal and he didn't have to be upset.
Though in a way she might be. All the indications are that Betty was very different before marrying Don. She was a successful model (which requires a hell of a lot hard work - looks are not enough). She had completed her degree at a time when even a lot women who went to college (a small minority to begin with) settled for their "Mrs". She spoke fluent Italian.
Megan said yes awfully fast, like wotshername did to Rodger. I wonder if Megan after marriage might prove less awesome and more Betty like. More likely, she really is awesome and just made a terrible mistake, chemistry overwhelming good judgement as sometimes happens to the best of us.
That was a great little scene with the milkshake.
