Rescue Me: It kind of killed me when Tommy and Janet meet the young host in that restaurant and he says "I know you guys do this stuff all the time(They were fighting...shocker) both because the guy was a friend of Conor's but also because they got a rare glimpse of what their life looks like from the outside.

Seriously, erika. So much this season is massively poignant, but that moment was more heartbreaking than all the rest.

I've missed a few this season, Bonny. I'll have to get the DVDs.But that moment stuck out because it was okay for them to play it small.I guess it's Tolan, not Denis, that always has to go for the drama-on-steroids.(I couldn't help noticing that Leary wrote that one with Evan Reilly...think he's Irish? Maybe a little. But I track that like Olbermann on a new pack of baseball cards.) It seemed a little more grounded. Which made for much more emotional punch. I think Peter Tolan thinks "Less is more," is for pussies. Which is totally too bad...these people face death every day. You don't really have to sex that up.(Well, not for me, anyway. I obviously don't speak for the dudebro audience.)

I was feeling kind of twitchy about the crossword puzzle stuff, Jesse, but I figured it was just me being too...something. Narrow, maybe.

I have been hating so much of this season of Rescue Me that it's hard to appreciate the good moments. That was a good moment at the restaurant.

I like the crossword puzzle stuff, but only because they don't go too far into it and gloss over how kinda odd it is. It REALLY doesn't seem the best way to communicate with an International cabal. I am loving the whole paranoia/puzzle thing so much that I am glossing over the wacky plots.

I'm just obsessing over why they don't call Will Shortz, and how did all those editors get coordinated like that, and blah blah blah.

I watched 1 and 2 tonight and am geeking out with Bing on details about the show. Producer Henry Bromell is the son of a CIA agent. Leslie Jacobowitz is the only producer (albeit co-) on all the eps. The producers come from The Wire, Sex and the City, Homicide, Rescue Me, Nurse Jackie, and (an old favorite) Northern Exposure! It took me awhile to place "Maggie Young;" the actress played the miniature killer on CSI. AMC has a blog by her character on their website; she solved the crossword puzzle in the hall while overhearing Will talk about it.

It's slow to start, I'm willing to give it some time. They really do have to step up their game re the puzzle though. Seriously, the prior 1960's puzzle? three days afterwards 4 people died etc.? You've got to be kidding - somewhere in the world, four people died three days after my cat yakked up a hairball, too.
