In last night's Leverage, was the fact that John Schneider's character planned to steal a song that had already been performed publicly by someone else who had gotten enough attention from the performance to have a bunch of fans just a really big plot hole, or did I miss something?

Yeah, that didn't make much sense. I wasn't a huge fan of the episode, honestly, as much as I love Alona Tal. It seemed too broad and silly for a lot of it, and it was clearly written just for Christian Kane to sing a song (and they basically had the same scene of "Ooh, look, just like Hodge/Kane, Hardison/Eliot can actually play the violin/sing"). I don't know, the whole episode felt a little too over-the-top and schmaltzy.

It wasn't one of my favourites, but I was half dead watching it. But normally character moments stick with me, even if the nuances fall through the cracks. Not that much this time.

Yeah, it wasn't very FUN.
There were some nice moments here and there (like Eliot fighting the guy in the soundproof booth), but...yeah, I can't think of much more heist-y, caper-y fun times.
It was written by M. Scott Veach, who also wrote "The Top Hat Job." Huh, I think I liked that one, though.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.
I liked it better on second viewing, but yeah, it wasn't one of my favorites. And I wondered about the whole instant-fanbase thing too. Would Kirkwood have just said "Kenneth Crane" sang a cover of his song? He was planning for "Crane" to be dead, anyway, so he couldn't have defended himself.
I would have been happier if "Kenneth Crane" didn't sound so much like "Christian Kane", too.
I enjoyed the episode, it just didn't wow me.

I liked the episode. I really like Christian Kane's voice, which says a lot, since I don't like country music. I even have that terrible song that he sang in the VH1 movie with Monica. They should release that on iTunes, people would buy it.
I liked hearing John Schneider sing (had a little thing for him ever since Bo Duke, although now he's a crazy Christian)
I will, however, grant that the plot didn't make much sense. It's hard to see how Kenneth Crane could have gotten such a following, but Kirkwood could steal his song. Also, didn't make sense that all of the A&R folks were suddenly after Alona after a few bars of the song.
Disbelief suspended!
