I'm a vision of hotliness, and how weird is that? Mystical comas. You know, if you can stand the horror of a higher power hijacking your mind and body so that it can give birth to itself, I really recommend 'em.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Sumi, isn't that post more suited for Bitches?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

has anyone seen the trailer for Nikita? it seriously made me shake my head.

This show looks like ass. I will have no part of it.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I will probably watch the pilot because I'm a glutton for punishment.

The preview did it for me. No thanks. I'd rather rewatch episodes of Top Shot.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm crossing my fingers that a show with an Asian lead can do well and not suck, because hey--cool, but I don't see much that warrants optimism.

I've been searching for Vanishing Son in pretty much any format, for years.

I remember loving that show...and Russell Wong...and having no idea how it could be canceled so soon.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Hmmm. It looks tepid.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Also, the premise as is is is unsustainable. She can run rings around them and keep picking them off? They don't look that big. Either she wipes them out in a season, or they wipe her out. To avoid that at some point a compromise will be reached where she ends up working for them/with them in a relationship of mutual loathing and distrust. Which is more or less the premise of the orignal Nikita. But as ita says not optimistic.

Now what might have been interesting is instead of elite assasins to have made them more like real assassination squads - i.e. death squads of the sort the U.S. has supported and funded all over the world, but brought home. Instead of a highly covert agency, an open secret where it is officially denied they exist, but everyone knows about them and knows they are tolerated and supported by the government. I guess at this point nothing is left of the Nikita plot, because party-girl turned drug-crazed criminal turned elite assassin was the core of the premise. But death squads in a nominally democratic nations ( could make for some really good story telling. Not without historical precedent - even in the U.S. Vigilantes in the early West, and the KKK post-Civil war through mid 20th century. Illegally, tolerated, the law looks the other way and often they are the law. And the fight against them is always tough with the political and social dimensions being critical. Even though sparked by Nikita, I guess nothing to do with it. Something you would need someone along the lines of David Simon to write. Umm but you could totally have an Asian lead...
