The whole country's drinking!
Cable Drama: Still Waiting for the Cable Guy to Show Up with the Thread Name...
To be determined... (but it's definitely [NAFDA])
I confess I don't watch Mad Men, but am pleased for all y'all who love it.
While I suppose I should have waited until I have photographic evidence, I had to pop in and tell you how your show is permeating the zeitgeist.
Yesterday, at the "Howloween", where the denizens of the dog-friendliest neighborhood in the country gather to parade their pups in some of the cleverest and cheesiest costumes, the 'best disguise' trophy was nommed by our pal Uma. She's a white/brindle English Bulldog with a massive underbite. She was decked out in a pink blouse, pink boufy wig and pink cat-eye glasses, as a 1950's secretary.
While Uma was completely put out and surly over the indignation, the rest of us were delighted.
As soon as I saw her, I thought of this thread! I'll post a link as soon as the event page goes up.
Um, is Jane wearing a black dress? or a dress close enough to black to be tacky at a wedding in the 60's. I mean, it may be New York, but still.
That was intense. I always expect great things of this show, but I really thought they handled this week just right. They hit every note.
Weiner is a lying liar guy. What with his "we won't be dealing with the assassination". Heh. Interesting that Pete and Trudy were such Kennedy supporters.
Franken,
I was thinking the same thing. What a massive lie. He's been dealing with JFK's death all season and really covered it this episode.

There were some really great lines in this show (mostly to do with drinking, i.e. Why are you here? The bars are closed) But the one that really resonated with me was Peggy's line about there not being room for anyone else to feel anything.
I wasn't really feeling this episode until Betty was telling Don she didn't love him. That gave me a sick feeling in my stomach, but I may just be flashing back to the end of my first marriage.
It's sick making but I hope they don't back away from that. Now I want to see Don be divorced and discover how much he misses being a father. He won't have much access to the kids, especially if Betty remarries. But I don't see how she could be happy with Henry either. She'll be just as trapped in suburbia, just as discontented.
And I'd like to see Pete and Sal and Peggy and Joan wind up with Duck's firm. Or Duck's firm buys out Sterling Cooper and everything goes kablooey.

duh!
