Slap 'er, Joan!
Cable Drama: Still Waiting for the Cable Guy to Show Up with the Thread Name...
To be determined... (but it's definitely [NAFDA])
Oh holy mother. Roger. Ick.
I literally gasped and put my hand over my mouth.
Aimee, I gasped too.
I'm loving Peggy this episode.
Anyone else left quite as thrown by the last fifteen or so minutes as I was? I think if last week was all about the subtext and metaphor, this week was a series of on edge, uncomfortable moments.
And God, but that last shot of Betty and Don was just heartbreakingly beautiful. And I couldn't help but wonder what prompted that gesture on his part-- does he really think, after seeing Roger and Jane, that Roger's really happy and he wants that? Or is it a case of for that one brief moment appreciating what he has with Betty?
I literally gasped and put my hand over my mouth.
My mouth was open the entire time Roger sang. The ENTIRE time. I was just so put off.
I thought Don wanted to talk to Betty about what Jane said, and perhaps instead of a conversation, he just held her. I also think that Betty understood why Don wasn't all the excited about going to the event and wanted to leave early. I think she got a picture of how odious his coworkers can be. I think that moment wrapped up a lot of stuff.
Speaking of Joan, too, that writing is on the wall that Greg's not going to get the Chief Resident position-- the question is, what's going to happen when he doesn't? I suspect he'll lash out at Joan, certainly he's got the history and the physical tics-- raping her in the office last season aside, he's such a manipulative, abusive SOB, even down to how he was with the vacuum-- yanking the cord from the wall and then blithely saying if it breaks, he'll just fix it.
He is easily one of the creepiest characters on the show.
I almost couldn't watch the blackface scene, and what made it worse was all the happy laughing reaction shots from the crowd. Even when Don excused himself, it wasn't because he was horrified, it was because he was bored.
Barb, ITA about Greg. I'm really worried about Joan.
Pothead Peggy was hilarious, and I want to high five ALL of the promo editors for the out of context "I'm in a very good place right now" in last week's teaser.

But it's horrifying because it was SO accurate and true to the times. That's part of what I meant when I said this episode really felt as if it was about the uncomfortable, on-edge moments. I was just prickly and restless all the way through.
Since Joan now has figured out that she brings more to the table than he does, I hope she leaves his ass.
