"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Mad Men also gets a good amount of discussion in here when it is airing.

Compassionately intolerant

I really like In Plain Sight, ita. The characters...all of them, are multidimensional and compelling. I really like the writing.

Fred Weller is a joy to watch. And Leslie Ann Warren is both gorgeous and transfixing in a...how can she be so beautiful and yet so incredibly vexing...sort of way. You really feel what the characters are about.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I like "In plain sight" generally, but the lead character's sister and mother drive me up a tree. I don't know how I can watch the show when I hate them so vehemently. I started watching the show and saw the mother and sister right off the bat, and I had to come back to it.

I'll try the show again, but they need to be off my tv.

I'm with you, LeN.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Lesley Ann Warren usually plays characters that bother me. All her recent stuff...well, she's coasting on Mission: Impossible goodwill. Last other thing I saw her in was Crossing Jordan as Lucy's irresponsible mother. Though that end was pretty harsh.

Have you seen CHOOSE ME? It's from a while ago (and sad of me to think of the 80s as a while ago) but she pretty much got a free pass from me for that movie. It's a touch mannered (especially Keith Carradine's character, though I like his performance), but I adore the move. Plus a steaming Teddy Pendergrass soundtrack.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Heh. I love Choose Me also, though it is as Frank notes, mannered.

I bet Scrappy's a fan too.

Our wings are not tired.

Iirc*, "Choose Me" is an Alan Randolf ("The Moderns") movie. I really loved it at the time, but haven't seen it since.

  • I am on a Google-search hiatus when it comes to looking up stuff I really should strive to remember instead.

Always Anti-fascist!

Pretty Good Rescue Me tonight, except the horny chiros were a bit of a return to old bad habits. And, ok, Franco's a Truther...we get it. But, as Tommy said last week, if he could harness the energy he uses chasing tail, he could save the world. Also, in my head part of that last Tommy/French Chick exchange went like this: TOMMY: You just want to pump me for information... FC: What else do I want to pump you for?Ew, never mind. just for the Spuffy shout-out...
