This is so nice. Having everyone together for my birthday. Of course, you could smash in all my toes with a hammer and it will still be the bestest Buffy Birthday Bash in a big long while.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Is he still living in the same 'burb he was in season 1?

Yep -- they're still in Sing Sing.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I got through 20 minutes of "The Shield" before I had to turn it off. Too.much.gore.

I'll have to try again tomorrow.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yep -- they're still in Sing Sing.

Well, they live in Ossining -- it just feels like a prison.

Oh, I know. But I did find it interesting that in this ep, the prison is a subject of conversation at the country club, whereas last season it was there thematically but unspoken.

Yeah, maybe they found that people didn't get it.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, you can probably number me among the "didn't get it" crowd.

So I rewatched last night, and it was painful. In the best possible narrative way. I love that I have this group to hash it out with, because I get so much more out of it. Looking for the themes, thinking about the nuances.

One of the awful moments was Betty's resigned, "I didn't know," in response to Don's "It's desperate." I hate that women were made to feel this way.

I have more I'm thinking about regarding their relationship, but I can't quite articulate it yet.

Also, at first, I thought the hair of Pete's new fling was out of era. It looked eighties to me somehow. But later it wasn't so bad.

“Not dead yet!”

My, my, my... meow

Joan's going to have her hands full with Jane for a bit, but I suspect Jane's still an amateur at this game.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Do you think Jane knew Sterling would help her?

And the Drapers just walking away from their trash! I remember that world.

“Not dead yet!”

I suspect Jane knew exactly what she was doing. She's issuing a challenge to how Joan sees herself and her place in the office.

And the Drapers just walking away from their trash! I remember that world.

Well, of course, interspersed with Don being so concerned with keeping the car clean. A little bit 2x4, but still effective.

ETA: And now, ironic.
