Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think it ties back to his first master pitch about the slide carousel.

Yeah, that was the callback. That pitch was Don's calling card for years and in that pitch the carousel symbolizes family and love and childhood and wonder, so calling back to it with lyrics about how actually a carousel symbolizes futility because you never get any close to the thing you're chasing...brilliant.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

What song was it? Circle Game? (I haven't watched but don't care about spoilers)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

You know what I'm weirdly annoyed by? How drastic Margaret's physical transformation was. I feel like there must be a mid-range hairstyle between Full Beehive and Full Hippy that she could have sported at lunch with Daddy. Unless she dolled her self all up One Last Time. Hmmm.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

She was wearing gloves. At lunch with Daddy, I mean. So I can see especially dolled up for the occasion before going full on hippy.

I am charmed by Fargo voice-overing their "Previouslies" with "Erstwhile"

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh, Ginsberg. Gay, closeted and schizophrenic is no way to go through life, son.

That was a good episode of Mad Men, though harrowing.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I was struck by two things --

First, that Henry treated Betty and Sally the exact same way, as if they were both his daughters. When they were yelling at each other, he called them both "girls". Not sure where this side of Henry is coming from, is it because suddenly there's conflict?

Also, I got a real "Mommy Dearest" vibe when Bobby came into Sally's room and they talked.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

When they were yelling at each other, he called them both "girls".

I noticed that too and I wanted to punch him in the face. But he was generally facepunch-worthy the entire episode.

Not sure where this side of Henry is coming from, is it because suddenly there's conflict?

People had called him out for being patriarchal and controlling from the very beginning of that marriage - I don't think this is new at all, just more pronounced.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Reading the AVClub review of this episode they act like Ginsberg's breakdown was completely out of the blue.

But they'd established and alluded to the fact that he's had auditory hallucinations ("transmissions from mars" etc.) from the beginning.

I always thought he was going to develop schizophrenia.
