Man, I was halfway through Suits when I realised that I had White Collar sitting on my TiVo. Screech! Brakes, left turn!
I do like Suits, but the high emotional toll every week is a bit exhausting. I needed some gentler bromance at the moment.
However, i gotta say--I did not see Louis coming. I can't remember the last time I saw Rick Hoffman play such a sympathetic and layered character, and he's the most layered character in the show--everyone has their bad sides, but they're not as nakedly vulnerable as Louis gets to be from time to time.
I thought Harvey had somehow talked him into conning the opposing law firm, not a straight up honest move to protect himself emotionally, even while risking losing ground professionally.
And, fuck--Walter? Was that the awkward kid's name? I really thought Mike was going to take up the challenge. It wasn't until they started playing music over the moment that I realised he said no. But that's fair--he'd only have been able to because he's superpowered--it's in no way realistic for one associate over another.
However--central conceit. How can that really persist? Is he never going to at least slightly true up? He should only need to take the bar, right? Or, wait--dies he technically have to do anything? Has he represented anyone solo?
