Caught up on PR: I didn't really have strong feelings about any of the looks this week. I think the judges chose the right winner, and I'm glad that something that had some personal meaning to it won. I feel bad for Lindsey - it does kinda seem like her aesthetic was just never going to be what the judges liked, like she was saying before.
I do not understand the previews for next week, I have no idea what they are going to be doing.
Carla Hall, the woman who lost Top Chef because she was TOO NICE, is opening a restaurant near me.
Hootie hoo!
Did anyone catch on Great British Baking Show that almond milk was a substitute for cows milk in Olden Tymes? It makes sense, but I thought it was interesting.
I still have not watched that show (I need to!) but I have read that before.
I saw that! Loved the bit at the end about the oldest existing cookbook.
And did you see when the Great British Custard Theft took place?
Yes! The on-screen descriptions were the best. That show is the best, overall.
I love Great British Baking Show. I want all the seasons, dangit!
I didn't realize until like, yesterday, that TAR had started again. Luckily it's all on my TiVo, but still.
I do not understand why Rachel Zoe is on TV. Granted, all I've seen of her is her ads, maybe pieces of her ads, but she has zero presence on screen.
Anyway, PR, I really like this challenge. They can't pull it out every challenge, but having model/clients that the regular judges know, and who know exactly what to expect from the whole process, is pretty cool. Kelly was really smart in making her "makeover" outfit more a version of what her girl wears all the time rather than going for a complete change. They were also just well paired up aesthetically, but any of them could have gone that route. I also love that Merline's reaction to making something more to her client's taste than what she originally envisioned was "I didn't know I had this in me" - I really liked her look.
It would have been so sad if Ashley had gone out on this challenge. I think her problem was once she got it in her head that she couldn't show something similar to what she'd done before she hamstrung herself.
Oh, dear, next week is avant-garde. I always hope it will actually be avant-garde and it pretty much never is. we'll see.
I really like all the innovations this season of Face Off. Good choices by the producers, I guess. The finale looks like it will be incredible.
