Yay Heidi for calling Ven out on his bullshit about "real" women. Yes Ven, we realize that in your mind real=fat.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
And what I love most is that he's not exactly a toothpick himself. But does it matter if you're a man? Not so much. Feh.
I love Heidi. She's just so funny and honest. I also love her dress tonight.
I actually stopped liking Sweet P because of the plus sized challenge. It's bad enough that a male designer days crap like that, but when a woman, especially a "regular sized" woman shits on her client for size, that is highly hypocritical.
I'm sorry that Nathan was out. I think that they should have taken into consideration that his client had questionable taste. Is the point of the challenge to make a dress that the client likes, or the judges like?
Yeah, I liked Nathan. And I was cringing by the end of his critique because I think his client really *liked* her dress, for the most part.
I don't remember that with Sweet P! Maybe I blocked it out on purpose. I loved her.
I think that they should have taken into consideration that his client had questionable taste. Is the point of the challenge to make a dress that the client likes, or the judges like?
Not really - there's always one or two designers who have clients with no fashion sense and wind up making ugly clothes for them. The point is you're supposed to design something the client doesn't even know they want.
Ven is an asshole, and his clothes are boring. Blah blah fan shaped pleats everywhere.
I *loved* the winning look this week. I would totally wear that dress and that haircut!
(Actually I would love to be a client for a challenge like this because I wear totally boring clothes all the time and when I try to indulge my punk/goth side I wind up looking like something out of a cheap Halloween store. But if they tried to dye my hair with Feria I would run screaming because it took me basically shaving my head to get that red shit out.)
I'm with Vortex. Sweet P pissed me off too. I almost would rather they don't have a "regular women's" challenge because I end up hating people I previously had no opinion of or liked.
I would buy the winning dress in a heartbeat. Exactly the kind of dress I love. But maybe ... two inches shorter.
Aside from Gunnar's, which at least had the ruffly detail, Fabio's at least looked original and interesting. Dmitry's was great, but one more solid-colored dress is another yawn in some ways.
But if they tried to dye my hair with Feria I would run screaming because it took me basically shaving my head to get that red shit out.
That whole thing irritated me. They've been saying "L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room" over and over for how many seasons now? Actual, specific product placement in the episode is so gross.
Oh man, 10 minutes in, and BB has already made me laugh more than it has the rest of the season.
eta: I don't usually watch the exit interviews/messages very carefully, bur this one I actually rewatched, because it was MADE OF AWESOME
he only thing that could have made that better was if Eleanor was on the show!
Ooh. So many all stars I would love to see...
On the opening number, what was that shit with giving Cyrus a broom? I mean, I know he can't dance Gene Kelly, but STILL. The black man gets to be the janitor??
Hah! I noticed this too and eye-rolled.
I was surprisingly pleased by the disco number, and amazed by Eliana, and that was about it. Oh, and the chacha was ridiculous. WHY, why with the bad and slow music??
Some of the things I typed while watching--apparently I'm all about costumes:
Lindsay and Jacob: "Apparently my shadow is a dude?" HAH. I am distracted by how shiny his vest is (hers is shiny too, but there's less fabric) Cute. Not super memorable, but not bad at all.
Will and Kathryn--weird seeing her after seeing Step Up! Also, he just looks GInOrMOUS. Even when he's squatting down. And she totally kicked his ass.
Cyrus and Jamie- (Wow, I didn't even recognize/remember her) I feel like men are not meant to wear skinny jeans shirtless. I liked the number a lot (especially the lighting choices)…but I didn't think he was that awesome in it.
Cheon and Lauren: SERIOUSLY COSTUME WHORES? Are those drop crotch pants?!? Also, wow, he is so ballet when dancing "hip hop"
Allison and George: FUn, but I have no idea where Tasty thought this was "raunchy"
I'm almost sad Cheon stayed, because really, is he going to get votes off of THIS week's performance?!? This new setup is weird. I feel like they should kick people off at the beginning of the show (even though we'd then get less dancing).
Also, wow, he is so ballet when dancing "hip hop"
It's his muscles. He doesn't use them the way hiphoppers do. He's not aware of their contraction and release, all he's doing is moving them smoothly, which is what a ballet dancer should, but he completely misses the point of what he's trying to do here.
