Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, I have no idea who's going to win. It's kind of weird! I guess Tony, just for social media reasons?

I don't watch, but is the Tony you are talking about Tony Vincent? Because I feel like he is already famous, at least in theatre circles, so I think that it is weird he is on the show.

Nope, Tony Vincent got cut a few weeks ago.

Relatedly, there was a woman who didn't make it that far who had a video that was constantly on VH-1 a few years ago. I think it's interesting that they work with people who have had some success, but not All The Success.

That is interesting-- I actually worked with the costume designer for American Idiot (which Tony Vincent was in) and even though she was designing for Broadway, she also has not had "all the success" (hence her working in Rochester with me!)

"We have trust issues." Mylar

Yeah, last year's Voice winner had put out a somewhat succesful R&B album with a couple of songs that got rotation on urban radio but he never really broke through. I was surprised to see him pop up on the show and unsurprised that he won because he already had a fan base going in and he could really sing. I actually really like that aspect of The Voice, that the almost famous crowd does not get shut out like they do on Idol. I think it's interesting, though, that even with the boost from winning the show, Javier still did not break through and become an R&B superstar. Makes me wonder if he is really just lacking that "it" thing that creates a star, because he's certainly talented enough based solely on his voice.

Crap, now I have to decide if I care enough to stay up til 11 to see who wins. It's a pretty good show so far, I have to say!
