Tyra should have gone for putting her in the bottom two and shaming her in front of the panel and then bringing it up every episode after that before crowning her the winner despite misgivings.

Yes!! I mean, yes, her attitude was not the best. But I suspect for the booty-tooch thing, part of it was probably her gender identity issues, and she just couldn't easily verbalize that in the moment. But then at panel is not when they want to be hearing excuses...blah blah blah.

Bev and Cyndi Lauper were the best things about The Voice results show. I was happy to see Juliet and Jermaine and Chris make top 4. I would've gone with Katrina over Tony, but I can see why Adam didn't. Glad to see X-Tina keeping the hate fires burning for that fool. I really want to know what went down between them on Mickey Mouse Club all those years ago because homegirl just is on his ass 24/7. I'm rooting for a Juliet win myself.

AI Top 5

Ry-Ry looks all refreshed and shiny. Good job with the chicken soup there, Julianne.

Hollie – River Deep, Mountain High. Aw, yeah. Love this song. Of course, I want to hear Tina Turner singing it, not Hollie. I’m sure she’ll do the Celine version. Yep. Celine version. But I’m loving the sassy back up singers. Can we just hear them sing a girl group version of this song? And she sounds fine. Not as many pitch problems as she normally has. But she’s still boring as all get out. Except for when she was shimmying backwards and almost fell because that shit was hilarious. It was quick, but a treat for those in the know. Nice recovery, though. Not enough breath to hold the last note all the way to the break, but overall that was a lively performance for her.

Phil – The Letter. And he’s planning to Phil it all up. Oh, joy. I think I’m back to hating him. All the sing talking and grinning and grinding and just ugh. Every song sounds like the exact same song. He was . . . Phil. And if Phil is your thing, then he was great, I suppose. I just do not get it. At all. Jam band. That’s it. I have never been to a Phish concert, but I imagine that’s what they sound like and it makes me glad that I’ve never been to a Phish concert. So basically the judges are saying that he can’t sing but it’s alright because he’s got charisma and magnetism? OK.

Skylar – Knock on Wood. Excellent. Oops, except they didn’t like it. Huh. So instead she's doing some CCR song I’ve heard but really don’t know all that well. But it is a really good choice for her. Well done, Jimmy IV. Maybe you do know a thing or two about this music production business. She sounded good, spunky and fun. And she is just a damn fine performer. She knows how to move the crowd.

Joshua and Phillip – You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling. And Phil really can’t sing a melody, y’all. So I guess it’s a good choice he makes to just forego them in his performances. Oh my word, they sound like ass together. Josh should’ve taken the song up a little. That lower register is suffering. This is so boring and bad . . . like high school glee club level bad. Please make it stop. And are they singing the whole song? Dammit. They never sing whole songs. Why do we get the whole song? And of course, Josh gets more animated and into it once he can start screaming at the end. Also, the jacket looks even tinier and more ill-fitted on him side by side with Phillip who is wearing normal sized clothes. What is the deal with Joshua? Does Phil have bad BO or something? I thought it was just a bad bit and then it turned uncomfortable.

Jessica – Proud Mary. Two of the three tweens in hooker heels went with Tina. Poor robot girl. So stiff and creepy. She’s trying her best to do sassy but there is no way she can compare to Tina Turner. She looked like she was going to blow some circuits out there. She sounded good, though, but that’s a given. Ugh. Randy is right. Again. The performance quality was really lacking. The most disturbing element of this entire Idol season is how often I am finding myself agreeing with the Dawg. I’m slipping.

Is that Miss Debbie Allen posted up on my SYTYCD judges panel? What? Aw, hell yeah! Can it be on right now?

Joshua – Ain’t Too Proud to Beg. Well, somebody had to sing The Temptations this season. I think it’s in the AI bylaws. For the love of god, somebody get this fool a jacket that fits. Hilfiger!!!! He sounds amazing on this song. The style and the attitude and the whole young Motown of it all. He’s totally in his element. And he threw in a little Fantasia “yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah” there at the end just for fun. What is wrong with this dude? He is really hating life on AI right now. He looks soooo uncomfortable.

Hollie – Bleeding Love. Reality worlds colliding. This girl is so much better than she was. Learning. Growing. Aww, lookee there. That was really good. And not good for her good. Just good. She’s even dressed better. Steven Tyler does not know that song. Ha! He’s like the anti-me. She really is coming on strong here lately. I think she’s definitely going to outlast Robo-teen if she keeps on this way and who would’ve ever thought it?

Phil – Time of the Season. And he will Phillip Phillips the hell out of it. Oh, joy. Again. Ouch. That is some painful out of tuneness on this song going on. Continuing to show why he doesn’t try to sing the melody on most songs. Because he can’t. That was terrible. Ryan’s best throw to commercial ever? I think so. We know who really has the crush in the Seacrest-Hough household.

Hollie, Jessica, Skylar – You’re Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher. They sound great together. All three are really good technical singers. Jessica and Hollie kinda look like Skylar’s back up singers, though. And Hollie and Skylar really hate Jessica. What is that about? JLo is correct that the there was more confidence on display. Hollie is really on the come up.

Jessica – You Are So Beautiful. That was gorgeous. Those runs at the end were just insane. Ridiculously good. I don’t even have any words. That’s the best she’s sung since she did Beyonce. And Ryan comes in with the shoes and the quip? Such a pro that wee man.

Joshua – To Love Somebody. Shut it down. God damn! Strangé, sir. Strangé.

Top One

Josh

Middle Two

Hollie

Skylar

Bottom Two

Jessica

Phil

Based purely on vocals, Phil should be taking his act on the road or back to the pawn shop or wherever DMB copycats go but he’s up against Robo-teen and she almost went home a couple of weeks ago, so who knows? It’ll be a fierce final 4 no matter who stays. These kids can sing. Well, most of these kids can sing.

Wow. Did not see that elimination coming on AI. America can still surprise. Well, if the Pickle can carve out a post-AI career, I don't see why she can't. And Gunpowder and Lead is an awesome sing out song. Well done, nasally girl.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Chris Mann has really been growing on me.

Because books.

He's got a fantastic voice. I'm not a huge fan of that kind of stuff, like Andrea Boccelli, etc., but he's got serious talent and he seems like a great guy.

Yeah, I generally am not into the pop classical, but he is really good and so nice!

Obviously Blake and Jermaine are my favorite duo, though.

I am such a sucker for a big solid man who seems like a nice guy. Ugh!

I loved the duet of Yesterday, but Soul Man was even better. Jermaine also has a fantastic voice.

On the Voice:

No one should ever sing I Believe I can Fly because it's cheese on toast, but if you must sing it, you should sing it like Jermaine because he tore it up.

I loved the Christina/Chris Mann duet. It was gorgeous. Chris sounded the best I've heard him, but Christina was amazing. That girl can just sang.

Poor Juliet. You can tell that her voice is not up to snuff.

I really enjoyed that Tony Lucca performance. I had no idea that 99 Problems was anything other than a Jay-Z song, so that was a fun surprise. I also love that X-Tina will just not stop hating on this dude no matter what. That is commitment.

Chris was good on one of my least fave Christina hits. I don't even know if The Voice Within qualifies as a hit. But I do love that even so far after the fact, Christina can still not let go of the Tony Lucca hate. Seriously, y'all. What did that boy do to her?

Juliet and Cee-Lo on Born to Be Wild was fun but she is just not up to par tonight. Sad, because I was really rooting for her to take it all going in.

Loved, loved the Tony and Adam Yesterday. The harmonies were absolutely gorgeous. Adam can really sing. I kind of forget that most of the time. Dammit, Tony is doing very, very well tonight. And after a whole season of hating.

Wasn't familiar with the Blake Shelton song, but Jermaine more than did it justice. I do believe if he cut that song as a single, he'd have a hit on his hands. Definitely worthy of the Steve Harvey Morning Show.

Chris Mann is not my cup of tea, but he did sound lovely on that Josh Groban song and heaven knows there's a market for it. He had a good night.

Blake and Jermaine on Soul Man were too cute. And they both sounded phenomenal. Good times.

Tony had a very good night closing on the Maroon 5 joint. I can see him making a record like that, but we already have an Adam, no?

Juliet definitely saved her best for last, but Freebird would not have been my song of choice for the finale and the pimp slot no less. Also, she didn't have everything in the tank she needed.

I think it's a toss up from amongst the boys just depending on what your favorite flavor is. With the MMC backing, Tony just might take it all. With the Susan Boyle/Jackie Evancho vote, Chris Mann just might take it all. With the A Keys/Javier holdover vote, Jermaine might take it all. I think only Juliet really has no shot.
