Cash, I'm not Juliana, but running shoes vary widely. I would highly recommend going to a store that specializes in them and explaining what you need. They'll want to know how often you intend to run, they'll look at the wear pattern on your old shoes, whether you run on pavement or trails, whether you pronate or supinate... based on that they'll give you a recommendation. I don't go to regular sporting goods stores for running shoes anymore, instead I go to specialty running shops. May cost you more to start, but you're far more likely to get a shoe that's appropriate to your feet and what you intend to do with them.

Seconded. It's not just that running shoes vary widely, it's also that whether a shoe is a good running shoe is specific to your running style and feet. I would also recommend finding a store in your area that fits shoes for runners-- my store videotapes you on a treadmill and recommends a shoe based on that, which you can test out on the treadmill until you find something comfortable. Took only 15 minutes and the shoe they recommended was at the low end of the price range.

Paperdol, I've now finished the book. While it was all great, I really loved "the Internet wants your daughters". Bringing common sense to politics -- what a concept? In fact I'd like to see it posted on the interbunny. Don't know how you would feel about it. If you decided it was a good idea you'd still need permission from your editor. And as to whether it is a good idea -- I don't even know and I'm suggesting it. You already have sample chapters up.

But in terms of marketing, it could help you reach the political blogs. I'll bet some of the major feminist blogs would link to it, as well some of the liberal blogs, and even the some of the libertarian blogs that are actually libertarian. I'm not giving business advice. After all, I'm the one who thought The Inside would be a money maker. But the idea still may be worth considering independent of the source. It might reach a market you aren't currently connecting with.

On top of everything else, it really is good advice for parents, though I wonder if putting it out on the internet will reach many of the people who really need to read it.
