Paperdol, I've now finished the book. While it was all great, I really loved "the Internet wants your daughters". Bringing common sense to politics -- what a concept? In fact I'd like to see it posted on the interbunny. Don't know how you would feel about it. If you decided it was a good idea you'd still need permission from your editor. And as to whether it is a good idea -- I don't even know and I'm suggesting it. You already have sample chapters up.

But in terms of marketing, it could help you reach the political blogs. I'll bet some of the major feminist blogs would link to it, as well some of the liberal blogs, and even the some of the libertarian blogs that are actually libertarian. I'm not giving business advice. After all, I'm the one who thought The Inside would be a money maker. But the idea still may be worth considering independent of the source. It might reach a market you aren't currently connecting with.

On top of everything else, it really is good advice for parents, though I wonder if putting it out on the internet will reach many of the people who really need to read it.

I think what makes it so perfect for pimpage to The Others is that it deflates any sort of axe murderer, craxy, perv thing they might throw at you. Plus, as you say, it addresses something that is a cultural shift in a funny, smart way.

My question about Robin's couple is, why the hell doesn't she like his friends? That's a big red flag in a relationship, to me.

Assuming the friends aren't constantly trying to get the husband to go out to strip clubs or go binge-drinking until plastered, it's a big red flag for me too. I can see maybe having a personality conflict with an individual friend and not wanting him around in one's home, but blanket objection to a group of the hubby's friends meeting once in a while says major controlling behavior to me. Particularly if it's cutting short an agreed-upon event.

On the personal spending front, if I include eating out (lunch take-out as well as dinners) I guess I could crack $500 a month. But if that's not the case, my mind goes immediately to gambling or frequently buying rounds at bars—neither of which is that healthy if one is a family man. And the inequity is really eyebrow-raising unless he earns 4 times her salary
