Yes, there is. There's a hurry, Xander. I'm dying...I may have as few as fifty years left.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Thanks, Fiona! That helps a bunch. And thanks for the info on pounds.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Costco has coffins.

And you buy six at a time connected by a big plastic handle?

I get three personal days, six sick days, and my vacation days jump from 15 to 20 once I hit two years. Oh, and if I need more time off (or before my time has accrued) they let me have it, they just don't pay me.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

That is the real benefit of working for oneself. Total self-set schedule. Of course, I have to get out there and pound the pavement in order to get paid at all, so there's a drawback. But still, office hours and days? Totally up to me.

So it looks like we've got a severe thunderstorm watch in Central & Southern New England today, including a chance of large hail and damaging winds (more damaging with the large hail I would venture to guess).

Better break out the football helmets, New England-istas - it's Snowpocalypse II: The Iceball Strikes Back.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

So it looks like China is taking the pet food and toothpaste scandals pretty seriously:

When the former head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was caught violating the law, he was charged with two misdemeanors. When the former director of China's State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) was convicted on corruption charges, he was sentenced to death.

Zheng Xiaoyu and his family and associates allegedly took bribes amounting to more than five million yuan, about $650,000 in U.S. terms.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Wow. I wonder if it'll be carried out.

Which makes me tangentially wonder who the richest person executed in the US was. And then the average net worth of those on death row, and associated statistics.

I have a migraine. I can't believe I'm startled by this, and I can't believe I'm trying to work out what to do about it. I mean other than work. I've already skipped a luncheon which will no doubt look weird, but I have gotten stuff accomplished.

And thanks for the info on pounds.

You're welcome, but I just realised I gave it to you wrong! Ein Pfund, one pound, is 500g, so half of that would be 250g. Sorry.

Going to bed now.
