Dang, is there any clothes shopping experience that IS good for a woman's self-esteem? What with the horror-show lighting, the inconsistency of sizing across brands or even styles within the same brand, the inherent risk in buying anything without trying it on, the rapidly changing styles, and the fashions that don't flatter anyone except the big-boobed sticks we're apparently supposed to be, I could almost believe it's a vast conspiracy to keep women from ever feeling too good about themselves. And how
grateful
we feel when, after trying on 25 tops/skirts/suits/dresses, we finally find one that looks okay! How lucky we feel if we find something that miraculously looks good! Whereas a man can simply look for his measurements and be fairly well assured that what he's found will fit, whether he's athletic, overweight, skinny, tall, or short. It's a conspiracy against women, I tell you.
Can you tell I just spent nearly two hours in a clothing store trying on everything in my size and one size up and down, and came home with... nothing?

Zenkitty, I'm sorry you had such a rotten shopping trip. I hate shopping for clothes. I'm not much fond of shopping in general, but I especially hate shopping for clothes.
It's now 10 pm and I am still at my office. On the plus side, I finally got my bank deposit ready so I won't get the dreaded insufficient funds. Down side is there is more invoicing to do later. Bleargh.
Now to gather all the massage sheets for laundromat tomorrow! I think that's perhaps the LEAST favorite job for me to do, even though it's pretty easy.

God I hate days like that. Usually I just come home and eat something fattening.
Vicious cycle, party of one...
hands Ailleann a slice of red velvet cake
FTR resale shopping with my Mom is good for your self esteem. If you're going to be in the southern California area let me know so we can arrange an expedition!
It saddens me that some of my sickest most twisted porn is trapped forever inside VHS tapes.
red velvet cake
nom nom nom!
Damn it, now I want cake.
This is what makes shopping for shoes so much better. It's easier finding things that fit and are stylish and comfortable.
I got new running shoes today and since it was a buy one, get one half off sale, I bought these. Liv has them in pink and I know why she wants to sleep in them. They are comfortable as hell!
Oh see that's not fair. Why can't we get the pink ones in grown-up sizes?
Why can't we get the pink ones in grown-up sizes?
They had some pretty ones, including silver in adult sizes but none as pretty as the sparkly, pink girls' shoes. *sigh*
mmm, cake.

The other day I was in the banana republic store, and cursed their GOOD lighting--it was all dim and indirect, it made EVERYTHING look pretty good. For once I was in a mirror going 'Yeha, I look goooood". Still didn't buy the $100 knit dress, but I was damn tempted.
