I can't watch the BBC Office, and I sometimes watch the US version through my fingers because of teh cringe factor, but the non-cringey bits are gold. Jim seeing Dwight and Angela together and not telling anyone, not even Dwight, was just beautiful. I surprise myself with how much I want every character on that show to be happy, no matter how annoying they are.

Experimental TV: Comedy
This thread is part of an experiment to determine Buffistas' interest in television discussion. It will close on June 1st, 2007, after which there will be a brief skirmish to sort out what we want to do next. This thread is for discussion of all comedy, regardless of airing station. [NAFDA]
>But my intro to the office was a set of youtube clips that were all of the Jim/Pam parts clipped together, and it got me something hard in the chest.
Me too! But I am a shipper what ships at midnight, and always have been. I think it might have been the soap operas and romance novels from an early age. I am always shocked at myself that I like the Office because I humiliation comedy is so cringeworthy for me. I have trouble with Friends and Seinfeld a lot because of it. The episode of Buffy where that boy has the varsity jacket and Buffy comes on to him makes me want to crawl under the sofa. But somehow, there is something so realy about the characters on the Office that although it is painful and funny, it is a;so endearing.

And the look on his face! When he said that was his gift to Dwight! Oh, Jim.
If I skip the cringey parts, the stuff in between makes me laugh. I loved the betting pool from last week--the one for Kelly made me laugh out loud, especially when Ryan kissed her, grinned, and collected his money.
I really wanted this thread and now I'm too busy at work to watch TV! But I will pimp 30 Rock without reservation. Too bad Andy Barker is gone; that was another great little sitcom for a minute.
Andy Barker is gone gone, not coming back? That's a shame, I really liked it.

I read somewhere that the remaining episodes would be aired on Saturdays.
It took me a while to figure out why I could never watch more than 2 minutes of The Office. It's ugly. It's so colorless. I know... mockumentary, whatever. My eyes need more.
I believe two episodes were relegated to last Saturday and there are no plans to air or create anymore. They should still be on the NBC website, however.
I am totally going to serial post in all the experiment threads because I don't want to work.
For anyone who watched the Salute to Fireworks episode of 30 Rock: there are totally fireworks outside right now! There are fireworks all the time down here, actually.
Definite fan of The Office here. I've had too many bad bosses to believe Michael Scott is fiction. Though I had one who was a dead ringer for Todd Packer (or whatever was the name of Michael's old friend with the "WLHUNG" license plate).
So for me, it's less humiliation comedy than revenge comedy.
Woot! I've been watching How I Met Your Mother which really hit its stride this year and had some very funny, very weird episodes.
I saw the Ugly Betty catchup recap thingie and I'm intrigued.
The 30 Rock love has convinced me to try it.
Maybe I'll just go for the full Thursday night slate. Hmmmm.
