A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

The Ahem of Stargate: The Ark of Truth is out there. It's a very large file, but not high quality.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Ah, yes - The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins. Love that.

DW: I hated hated hated hated HATED the reworking of the theme tune. The Sound of Drums, indeed.

The rest was OK. It pushed all the buttons. But yeah, they need to dial back the soapiness and the "romance". Actually, judging by the preview, that's what they're aiming for with Donna. "I need a mate" - as in a buddy, not a partner, I'm assuming.

The preview did virtually nothing for me, but then I think I need to rewatch it. Hard to distinguish the different scenes/villains. Quite a lot of nice familiar faces, though, including Martha's. And Bernard Cribbins! I wonder if he's playing the same character as in the Christmas special or somebody else...?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

The Ahem of Stargate: The Ark of Truth is out there. It's a very large file, but not high quality.

I understand a lot of the special effects are missing, for instance.

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Ahem'd and watched the DW xmas special yesterday. I liked it all and the cheese was superior quality cheddar, not crappy processed cheez. I especially liked that RTD let the biggest prick of the group live. A very British touch, I felt.

I'd argue that it occasionally rises to the level of great television, as in the case of "Blink" and some of the 9th Doctor episodes.

Agreeing with this. And can I just say that when I saw the host angels, I got a tiny jolt of OMG angel/statue things, they could be cousins of the ones from Blink, oh no! Ahem.

I enjoyed the special overall, and I was not bothered by the cheese. I loved the little cyborg who would not let his name be shortened. Thought the thing between Astrid and him was cute. Thought Astrid and the Doctor had good chemistry... so, of course, her fate was sealed. Loved seeing the actors from As Time Goes By (Geoffrey ?) and, oh, I can't remember the name... but Mr. Bucket. Also thought Kylie did a good turn as an actor .

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I've read complaints on LJ about RTD killing the fat and black characters, but he killed the nice characters, pretty much. The least likeable two (one very much so) were the ones that survived.

That's no accident. I am more reticent than most to ascribe racism to casting decisions and who dies and who lives, it seems, but this struck me as something totally different from the black guy not making it to the end of the horror movie.

I mean, if black people *never* die, the kittens have won, and it's still racist out there.

According to this blog Universal HD is going to be playing ALL of BSG starting in January. (The blogger saw a promo to that effect.) Has anyone else heard this?
