A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Definitely, Dana. You feel the censure coming from everyone (spoily, spoily, beware)
and yet, put in the same position, they would do the same damn thing, and I bet they know it.
Ianto is somehow clearer to me. His grief and anger and priorities are all transparent, unabashed. There's this little chin-jut-out thing he does that conveys a sentiment not unlike Love's Bitch.
One of my favorite moments when rewatching the finale was (still big spoilers)
when they were all facing off against Jack, and Jack reminded them of all the things they'd done to each other, including everyone shooting Lisa, Ianto shooting Owen, Gwen sleeping with Owen, and everyone ignoring Tosh. Serious emotional porn.
Owen has this very flat face with a large frog-like mouth
That mouth is freaky looking. He could play Gollum without makeup.
Ianto's good looking. Owen, so not.
I know, right? Because (so spoily your milk is turning into cheese)
they go on, around all those things, because you have to go on. But they aren't ever forgotten, and Jack puts it all back in front of them. And it's so brutal.
It's one of the things I love about this show; that they all take so much damage, and it changes them, and they can't be the same people anymore in the face of it. And yet, there they are, human and wretched and flawed and having to deal with it all, you know?
Owen, so not.
Bwah! There are certain angles for Owen. But Ianto, well he's just Ianto, now isn't he...
I'm pleased to see some Torchwood love. I think it's a much better show than it generally gets credit for.
Liese! I am so glad you love this show! Please continue saying smart things about it!
Ianto's a baby. I'm still not used to people on TV being younger than me. Burn Gorman is several years older than Gareth David-Lloyd, and a few inches shorter. I also think Burn Gorman is the best actor they have on the show, with easily the hardest job.
Hee. Well, I watched it out of step with everyone. At first I was all virtuous about not downloading. Then I heard it wasn't going to be aired, and I figured, well, okay then. Then I downloaded everything and it sat on my hard drive forever, because I was on the road and scared to watch it in the room with, say, my in-laws. Then I watched, but didn't have online access, so I was freaked out all by myself.
Then I heard it was going to be aired after all and my rationalization went pfft, which prevented me from downloading the rest of the Who season, but, clearly, not the rest of Torchwood.
So it's kind of nice to be watching it now with some context and community.
Heh. I happened to stumble across a repeat of
Bleak House
last night. I had almost forgotten how extremely good he was in that too.
