A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

There's a PD online comic!
Fun! Much better than the Heroes comic.
Apparently PD drew 12.83 million viewers last night. Wow. (Now, that's the kind of number I can understand.)
I'd seen Anna Friel in a couple of things before (for those who like costume dramas, I highly recommend the BBC adaptation of Dickens' Out Mutual Friend in which she plays Bella -- and unsurprisingly, is totally adorable in the role) and thought that she looked a little bit different. Then a Brit friend tells me they got her new teeth! They do look a bit too big for her mouth, now that she mentioned it. I mean, her teeth were fine before, no matter what people are saying about British dentistry.
If the on-line comic is any indication, PD won't be all charm and quirk. Apparently it will have real teeth occasionally.
Incidentally, you notice that the guy with part of his cheek missing came back with part of his cheek still missing. Well Chuck was in the water long enough to bloat. As a murder victim she had an autopsy. (Otherwise they would think she was drowned rather than smothered with a plastic bag.) The reason she looks good is that the mortician drained her blood replaced it with embalming fluid, carved off some of the bloat, covered her with makeup that is not really meant to last forever. Of course she can keep up the makeup. I wonder if the show will deal with the issue or just hand wave it. She could find a dishonest plastic surgeon (to avoid records being kept) and do a permanent infill with plastic.
In series-premiere news, ABC’s critically applauded Pushing Daisies opened on a winning note, with 12.83 million viewers and a 4.3 rating/13 share among adults 18-49. Comparably, that came in on par with year-ago occupant Dancing With the Stars among adults 18-49 (Viewers: 17.49 million; A18-49: 4.5/13 on Oct. 4, 2006). And it beat NBC’s second-place Deal or No Deal (Viewers: 11.07 million; A18-49: 2.8/ 8) by 1.76 million viewers and a hefty 54 percent among adults 18-49.
Despite facing week two of ABC’s Private Practice and NBC’s Bionic Woman, CBS’ established Criminal Minds was the most-watched show at 9 p.m., with 14.42 million viewers. But it ranked third among adults 18-49, with a 3.7/ 9 in the demo. Week two of ABC’s Private Practice was first in the demo (4.5/11) and second in total viewers, with 12.29 million. Compared to its debut one week earlier (Viewers: 14.41 million; A18-49: 5.2/13 on Sept. 26), that was a loss of a typical 2.12 million viewers and 13 percent among adults 18-49. This is very good news for Private Practice.
Week two of NBC’s competing Bionic Woman finished second among adults 18-49 (4.0/10) and third in total viewers (10.94), but the losses were more dramatic. Compared to its debut one week earlier (Viewers: 13.91 million; A18-49: 5.7/14 on Sept. 26), Bionic Woman was down by 2.97 million viewers and 30 percent in the demo. This is still, however, a vast improvement over year-ago occupant The Biggest Loser (Viewers: 7.15 million; A18-49: 3.0/ 7, on Oct. 4, 2006). So, yes, it is still promising.
I wonder if the show will deal with the issue or just handwave it.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say "handwave".
Don't know. Could make a good story line.
Chuck's Jewish. I seem to have heard from somewhere that it's against Jewish faith or custom to have the corpse embalmed.
Of course, that doesn't explain the lack of autopsy scar. As for the bloating, the narration states specifically that Chuck was found "minutes" after she fell into the sea, so she didn't have the chance to bloat.

Only "minutes"? Are you sure it wasn't something like "3 minutes, 41 seconds, 5 milliseconds"?
P.S. You must read my latest LJ post!
I didn't mind the time narration. I thought it was cute.
The narrator in general reminded me of "Stranger Than Fiction," which could be interesting, I suppose, if the narrator does eventually become a character.
