You know, I'd be willing to give them that, but it's not a "double blind study". Additionally, it's against all of the tenets of responsible research. But, I think that Eureka is not known for responsible research.

Still thinking about gender nudity. Naked women are desirable. And vulnerable in a different way than men. Mostly naked men are blunders and goofs, even when they're eye candy. You don't so much laugh at naked and attractive women, and they're probably more scarred than the viewers, because of the power differential.

Yes, of course there are a million exceptions to this, but it feels applicable enough a generalisation.

Anyway, that 1.5 beat PKJ's 1.3 and DF's 1.4 debuts.

It is odd, but mostly because it's usually the other way round--but it's so much easier to play male nudity for laughs than it is female nudity.

There's also the practical consideration that blocking for male nudity is much easier than for female nudity in long shots. If you have a woman wandering nude through a scene and don't want to show the goods, you have to use close-ups or engage in Austin Powers-level subtlety in the use of intervening objects.

I bet Flash Gordon derived a fair part of its numbers for people who're thinking of the original. Remains to be seen if it can pull a BSG and recreate itself compellingly.

Yes, Eureka and BSG both did better in their premiere's than that.

Honestly BSG was something I AVOIDED because of the original. I still haven't gotten around to catching up with it, but I've got the DVDs because it's come recommended from enough people who's taste I trust.
