I think X-Files had a large fandom pre-TS. TS debuted a year before Buffy, two years before the Sad Decline of XF. It was, I suspect, timed just about right for a fandom to have a massive online presence.
Having two insanely slashy leads and a canon that practically hands you the ho-yay on a picnic platter is probably why it has a place in our hearts.
Dark Angel season one was pretty great, with super-high production values, an interesting and cohesive storyline, and a very nice-looking cast.
A sometimes interesting and cohesive storyline. And yeah, seriously fun secondary characters, who really needed more lines in S2. And a fine honey, because Original Cindy's too fine a honey herself to be relegated to the sidelines. The writing, though, was often kind of cringe-worthy. Though to be fair to DA, it was hard not to compare it to Buffy. Though to be fair to me, it was airing against S5, which... wasn't all that. So it might not be entirely the comparison speaking.
S2 was enough of a change and mess that I stopped watching it real time when my Buffy involvement grew stronger in S6.
That said, Ackles gave good performance, and a comparison of his role in season one and his role in season two gives a premature glimpse into the depth we get from him in Supernatural. But there's a lot more to the show than Jensen, a *lot* more, and I kind of think it's a shame that people are only watching it for Jensen and not on it's own. But whatever, right? At least people are watching.
Man, I really liked Ben (his S1 character) and the difference between him and Alec is pretty impressive.
That said, I watched S1 for itself when it was airing. But S2, well, I wasn't watching so much for the actual text by then. I was all about the subtext, the pretty and, later, the fic. Oh, and to learn that sex is bad, m'kay?
Original Cindy is probably my favorite secondary character of ever. She should have gotten her own show. I don't think I ever compared DA to Buffy, though I can see why one would. There's very little, I've found, that compare to Buffy for me anyway--it holds such a special place for me that it doesn't even class with other shows, even ones I love.
I keep forgetting SG-1 is not
that kind of show.
Kept expecting more from it, something more revealing about, say, Cam being cranky, violent and cabin-feverish, but alas, no joy (although I am glad that they in fact did show the stress of being trapped on the ship).
And I know that Daniel was being protective of his own feelings, going on the offensive when he believed Vala to be playing with his emotions for a lark, but DUDE.
Harsh.
Loved all the little ways he was basically telling her he loved her, but it was mixed up in such nastiness. I'm still cringing.

Does anyone know for sure how Special Agent Hendrickson/Henricksen is spelled? I am trying to check it on the interwebs, and they all spell it differently.
Ask in FanFic? And, yeah, I am still looking but I can't find definitive...
I'm fairly certain it's supposed to be spelt like Lance is.
