It is hard to get used to, especially when it's fabulous and you just want more, but with LoM, I think it would have been hard to sustain the concept indefinitely. Which brings us back to skepticism about the American version. Last I'd heard, they'd only cast the "Annie" character. So much is going to depend on the Sam and Gene casting.

tiggy, he'll be appearing in the last couple of episodes of this season's Doctor Who. They'll be broadcast the end of June.

He was also in "State of Play" (as was Philip Glenister), which I never saw so I don't know what it's like, but as Bill Nighy, Kelly Macdonald and James McAvoy are also in it, and it's by Paul "Shameless" Abbott, it must be worth a look.

If I had the patience, I'd wait till any given UK series (which is what they call a season) is done and mainline it in a weekend. Never works out that way.

But I really appreciate what a short season can do for a storyline. And also when they just up and stop. Knowing there's an end (as opposed to series that want to go on for ever and ever) also makes a positive difference.

I did love that. Though I keep confusing it with "The State Within" with Jason Isaacs. Luckily I loved that too.

I agree, Jon. It's pretty interesting to see, and that's one of the things that sort of confuzzled me at first. Like they really were like that back then? They didn't even bother to tape record interviews? That's so weird!

One of the things I like about the show is that it's a fish-out-of-water show in so many ways. Present-day Sam in the 1970s. Present-day detectiving in old-school procedures. Idealistic values in the midst of corruption.

yeah, you're probably right. i'd much prefer a short series that is done well than a drawn out one that you're ready for it to end.

Fiona, i knew about Simm being in Who, which i'm SO excited about. State of Play! that's the other one. i'll have to go look for some current *ahems*. i'll need something to fill the Simm void LoM will leave me with.

agreed. i actually tend to watch the DW eps right away and then once i have three eps, i burn them to a disc and watch with my sister, but i haven't started her on this new season yet and now we're almost done. by the time we have time to catch up, the season will probably be over. so she won't have to wait for these two-parters to finish up.
