Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

I am going to miss Ash, and Eva, and Andy, and the Roadhouse. I realize now that I should have expected it, after last year's killing off of Jim and Caleb, but DAMN.
Especially with Ash and the Roadhouse.
I refuse to believe Ellen is dead until I have to.
So the set up for next week/season:
(given that Sam is of course, NOT DEAD)
Where is Ellen, and is she pissed enough to be anti-Boys?
What about the other generations?
How did Mary know the demon?
Where is the YED getting his Army, how close is he to having it ready, and why is he raising it?
What else is there?
Ray Voodoo Tatum!
sumi, was it?? I thought so!

Well, this Evil seems to be big enough and aimed at a scattered enough area that I don't think she can blame it on Sam and Dean. It didn't land on the Roadhouse specifically because of connections to them, especially if the YED is planning to OMG Wipe Out Humanity/End The World or whatever his evil plan is.

I think it did-- Ash was looking for information for Dean, on Sam, and the Demon, and told Dean he had found something big that wasn't directly about where Sam was, but might help him find Sam, and Dean and Bobby were headed to the roadhouse to hear what it was.
When do people think Eva turned evil?
Was it right after she left Sam in Hunted (meaning she was probably the one who killed her fiance), or did she get taken to CreepyAssTown, SD and then turn evil?
But how would Ava have survived there for five months, on her own? I get her killing any others who showed up, but she is still human -- what the hell did she eat? Her reveal, now that I think about it, was poorly done, because now I don't know if she *knew* her fiancee was dead or what.
Also, I have to say, in the first episode she was in, when Sam and Dean found her fiancee and all the blood and her ring, I immediately thought Ava *was* a demon, or in league with one.
The Dead Lesbian pinged me a little bit, but Jake as the ultimate strength didn't, because I read him much more as *soldier* than as black.

I like the idea of Ava's reveal, but how it was handled was poorly executed now that I'm looking at it in the harsh light of dawn. How hard would it have been for her to "accidentally" led the others to a stash of food, or to toss a wee (very wee) bit of exposition into the reveal.
I had been hoping for some sort of killer montage (a la "Carry on My Wayward Son") at the beginning of this ep, but I have a feeling that we'll have something at the beginning of next week's ep. I also have a feeling that it will make me cry. (If they ever, for any reason, do a montage to "Desperado" I think I will drown in my own tears - that song is an automatic cry-trigger for me.)
I was pinged by Jake's strength as well because up to now all the psychic abilities have been just that, psychic. Visions and telekinesis and forms of telepathy and so forth: not superhero-dom. Not physical. Making the black guy the super-strong guy was bothersome to me, and it's not like they couldn't have come up with an ability for him that would have made him just as dangerous--he could have been a teek too, or something.
Was nice to see Voodoo again, though.
I will be very cranky if Ellen is dead.

Oh good god, Anne, you're right. Although it's not the style of song they usually pick. OTOH I would not have expected them to use Boston, either. So.
