'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I never liked ramen or pot pies either, so I was a Kraft Mac 'n Cheese fanatic. I somewhat suspect this is why I came down with a cow protein intolerance. Anyway, the upshot is that I can't have my absolute favorite comfort food without regretting it for a couple of days afterwards.

In happier news, I had lunch with some of my ex-coworkers who miss me a lot, and report that I'd probably be quite dissatisfied with the state of the department and the work they're being given if I was still there.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Are there different animal cruelty laws depending on whether the animal is typically considered a pet or food?

It's Ride for the Feast weekend.

I've been so preoccupied with my move that I totally forgot about that. Good luck.

At least it looks like I might finally have found movers and worked out a plan that puts me in SF as early as June 3rd.

Job starts the 18th. I have to be in NY on the 8th for my friends' 40th. I had hoped to see my family in France while my stuff was in transit but the logistics of that combined with NY combined with the long-distance move were crazy. Basically, I'm moving so little that movers will initially only give a 6- to 15-day delivery window on the other end--not so good for planning purposes. So I'm flying straight out and then back to NY the next weekend. Hopefully, my stuff won't arrive either of the two days I'm in the Big Apple.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Any chance I'll get to see you when you're in NY?

That reminds me of one of my favorite New Yorker cartoons. A man says to his parents, "Mom, Dad - I'm bi-coastal," while the mother cries on the father's shoulder...
