If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

My sibs and I already divided the important stuff. Which came down to a bowl from Louisville and a set of plates from Spain, really. Well, my sister and I did. And we gave absent bro the part he'd really want anyway. That is way fairer than he has any right to expect.

There may be a painting or two still to divide, but that's about it. Fortunately there's three full sets of china (Mom, Nana, Great-Aunt), so only limited bickering potential there.

I mean, not that there's not lots of smaller stuff, but as far as the seriously meaningful. And anyway, we are totally capable of finding umpteen other things to argue about, so I guess it's nice to have this settled.

(Nice is not the word my father used. Go figure. Possibly we should have had this conversation out of his hearing.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Google news is giving me whiplash. Prince Harry is not going to Iraq.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I am flea's executor! That is the second executorship I have lined up. In case others of you were looking for somebody to skim a nice percentage off the top when you croak. I think it is a job I will be very good at!!

Kidding, kidding. I take my fees upfront, and do not have to skim a tall.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

My mom's already made it a point to go through and divvy up some of the family photos, and ID the ones she's keeping with who's who on the back. We were lucky on my dad's side that his mom and aunt went through their family photos a few years before they passed away and IDed as many as they could.

I've never met any of my paternal grandparents' families, other than Grandma's sister and her children, Grandpa's technically-uncle-but-practically-brother Gus, and at their 50th anniversary, Grandpa's brother Helmer came over from Sweden with his daughter Urta and her son Michael. So, seeing those photos was strange, since I apparently have a lot more relatives on that side than I ever knew of.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My grandmother keeps trying to give me stuff already, but I don't want it yet! Not sure if she has an actual itemized will, or if we'll be expected to divvy everything up on our own...

I am so over my 3 o'clock meeting, and it hasn't even fucking started yet. I knew I should have gone to bed earlier last night.

move out and draw fire

I have "pop culture" listed as one of my hobbies also. In the interview for this job, the first interview asked me what "pop culture" was.

Given the whole biotech aspect, maybe he was thinking it was soda in a petrie dish.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yeah, those microbes don't go much for the diet Pepsi....

How did you define it, Raq?

Compassionately intolerant

I get the 16 year old if his parents buy it before he's of age.

He said the funniest thing the other day...which is ma related to me this morning...they were talking about my breakup with Fela and various other issues. She expressed surprise that we were having such a grown up conversation. He looked her in the eye, and in all seriousness said, "Well, you know we have lived together."

So cute.

My great aunt completely circumvented the whole will thing my putting my name on everything (and not telling me) when I was about 10. It could not have been easier when the time came, bless her.
