See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

sarameg momvoicing Allyson is completely adorkable.

Also, t no-nonsense friendvoice Allyson, DUDE. If someone else were running around your office taking $20 bets that a friend of yours was gonna get stood up, you'd be there defending your friend and beating the asshole stand-up bookie with a... a... a centrifuge, or an atom-splitter or a Mars probe arm or whatever your science guys happen to have lying around. You're so fiercely loyal that you'd draw blood before you'd let someone shit on your friend like that, even in fun, even just as a joke. You wouldn't stand for it.

Please, (a) be as loyal to yourself as you'd be to your friend, and (b) have some pity on the rest of us who think you're smart and awesome and much better than you realize, and who would like to pound the cruel person capping on you right now, except we can't because that cruel person is you. Dude, seriously. t /no-nonsense friendvoice

Also, I've been putting forth a $20 bet that I get stood up

We should all take you up on it because then we'd get a free $20 but then you'd owe so much money. Silly woman.

Mom-report: still mad at me and wouldn't let me go with her to the hospital to visit my own children. Seriously.

What is even happening?

Mom-report: still mad at me and wouldn't let me go with her to the hospital to visit my own children. Seriously.
I told my mother about it (because I can easily see the same thing happening between the two of us). She said what your mom is supposed to do is swallow the feeling, and give you shit about it two years from now.

Really? If anyone doubts where my own brand of crazy overreacting comes from? It should now be obvious.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Really? If anyone doubts where my own brand of crazy overreacting comes from? It should now be obvious.

Imagine what Noah and Grace will be saying 30 years from now. I'm sort of in awe of the cycles, watching my kids and hoping they don't pick up my neuroses. Knowing that if they don't they'll most likely develop their own, new, fun issues even without my baggage.

Our standard comfort when they're crying or mad is, "There, there. You can tell your therapist all about it when you're a grown up."
