I am beat, too. But on the plus side, because it was so hot, and the forecast is hot this week and we're going to be really busy, I just cooked two meals (in addition to tonight's dinner) so we can be microwave only for a good part of the week. And I cleaned out the fridge, so if I finish the dishes once the baking is done, I can have most of the hot-usage stuff done. I'll still need to launder, but if I buy a shower clothesline, I can just air dry.
Natter Area 51: The Truthiness Is in Here
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Great. There was no upgrade, huh? I'd check my email, but MY PC IS FUCKING DOWN. So I can't recheck the email with the upgrade times, since the motherboard fails to recognise any drives.
God, shit sucks and blows.
::sigh::
Seem to have rescued the PC. Will check email later. I'd give points back to today, but it's already tomorrow.
VORNADO QUESTION: Those of you that have one, which model did you get? I'm trying to work out if I should get one for the living/dining area (and by extension kitchen) and one for my bedroom. They look pretty easy to move around, but that doesn't mean I should.
Oh, and how quiet is the one you got? I need to sleep with them on, and since they don't seem to have a timer, hush is good.
ita, I don't have a Vornado, but I do have a small oscillating tower fan with 3 speeds and a timer. I don't know if this is the exact model, but it looks close. I find the low setting to be pretty quiet.
eta: This one has a quiet mode.
Today I drive most of the way to Providence to take part in a "Financial Concerns During Transition" workshop offered by the career counseling service that's part of my severance package. I figure it will be worth the gas, at least, and maybe I can detour by IKEA on the way home, since I need ever MORE boxes to put stuff away in....
So my phone rang at 1:11 am today. I didn't hear it ring, but the answering machine did wake me up. It's my brother and they are at the hospital and they just broke my SIL's water.
I scramble to the phone with the numbers in memory and promptly hit redial, not memory and call my poor parents. Luckily, J'd just called mom so I wasn't waking HER up at least. After a few sleep-garbled words, I manage to say goodnight to her and call the brother. He sounds high as a kite and PJ is chattering away in the background and from what I remember, all is going well.
AND he just called. Tyler was born at 6:40 this morning at 7ls 1 oz. YAY. AND Dominic just called me again to tell me his favorite zoo animals are the alligator and the komodo dragon (he's gonna buy one) and they are driving to the hospital to see the baby and mommy and he's excited!
Dear Tyler, Welcome! Please feel free to let your parents sleep in -- no need to be quite such an early bird!
Dear Dominic, Don't pet the alligator or the komodo, but admire them all you want from a distance!
Congratulations, sarameg!
YAY for new babies!!
I'm sure your Mom wouldn't have minded if you'd woken her up with that news! Welcome to Tyler! (It's your Auntly duty to make a big fuss in the coming days over Dominic, who may be feeling a bit rocky what with the changes in the family.)
Yay! I have a picture!

Luckily his phone skills are such I can actually interact from a distance. Of course, sometimes it devolves into calling each other goofy names and roaring, but...
