And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

and then putting an ideology, any ideology, over the wellbeing of that creature

I doubt in their minds they were, is the thing. I'm sure in their tiny stupid little brains, they were doing exactly what was best for their child.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Let's talk about something a little more cheerful. Any good cholera epidemics going on?

Seriously - JZ, how are the baby toes this season?

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Veganism does not necessarily equal extremism.

Well, no. But it's not the veganism that's the issue, it's latching on to whatever ideology and pushing it to the extreme. Like people who think Big Pharma is bad, but then push it to the extreme and oppose everything they do.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

The baby toes are sweet and juicy and I would do anything, no matter how hard or horrible or personally repellant -- move heaven and earth, cut off my own right arm, kiss W on the lips -- to keep those toes well and safe.

Poor Matilda's going to have to submit to a lot of sloppy kisses and cuddling on the bus ride home tonight.

Sorry. Writing the story that was in this post was a mistake.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

From the LA Times:

Officials reported an estimated $30,000 in private property damage to a wood-shake roof. More than 400 Department of Water and Power customers were still without electricity this morning as crews waited for the fire to die down before they could repair fire-damaged poles, said agency spokeswoman Terry Schneider.

Isn't a wood shake roof in a fire prone area a supremely bad idea?

Yup. I think that I heard it was the only house with a shake roof in that general area, the rest were tile.

brillig

If pregnancy conferred intelligence and common sense and basic human nurturing, the world would be a better place. Too often pregnancy just confers a sense of "Huh! How did that happen!"
