Man, they just reopened the observatory, didn't they?
Ooh.
I hope everyone stays safe. I like to think of much of LA as too concreted over to burn, but it's hot and windy and shit happens. I just hope it stops happening soon.
'cause the whole point was to blur the lines and challenge the image of traditional femininity
That's what I've always missed (callback to Von Teese). A sartorial point. I just keep wondering about them.
Wore the '50s shirtdress in to work today. The shade of pale blue looked cool with the recently burgundy hair. Incongruous, but so does most any period on me.
Also, every helicopter in the Universe is flying over my neighborhood.
medical studies have shown that there may well be a migraine personality where a migraine sufferer could have one or more of these characteristics: perfectionist; highly strung; conscientious; orderly; analytical; critical.
Now really, does that sound plausible?
I have Allyson on the phone. She lives only a couple of blocks from the park, and she's on the roof with her neighbors. She says it smells yucky and she can't see beyond the buildings across the street. The power went out and civilians in shorts are in the streets, directing traffic. Palm trees are igniting and exploding, and it looks like the fire is pouring down the hillside.
Oh, Damn. I hope she and Ruby stay okay
Futhermocker. Good on the people directing traffic despite what must be primal urges to either flee or hunker down at home.
I hope everyone stays okay.
Good heavens! Keep us updated, Polgara. Tell Allyson if it smells bad, she shouldn't be breathing it. Does she have a dust mask?
SHIT! Yeah, Griffith Observatory just reopened, and it's stunning. ND did the sound work for the new planetarium, in fact.
Allyson, Sean, and others in the area--please stay safe! If anyone needs safe harbor for the night, call my cell. You're welcome to come here (kitties invited too).
Email me your cell number. I have ND's but not yours.

She says thanks for all the good wishes. They're ok so far. She's only about two miles from the fire, but right now they're not worried about the fire jumping Los Feliz Blvd, although they are evacuating everyone north of Los Feliz, which is only two blocks from her. I don't know if she has a dust mask (we hung up so she could conserve her phone battery). Right now all her neighbors are on the roof, and they're all pretty stunned--it doesn't get more front row than her roof.
