You know, with the exception of one deadly and unpredictable midget, this girl is the smallest cargo I've ever had to transport. Yet by far the most troublesome. Does that seem right to you?

Er, where does NY seltzer come from?

It comes from the Catskills. Lots of good things come from the Catskills! Like, uhm, Shecky Green.

I used to do some typesetting for my mother, way back when. I thought putting all the right codes in in the right places (I think some of them had to be, like, one space from the beginning of the line) was SO COOL.

Okay, so my cover letter is a little meatier than the usual "Hi, here's my resume," but... eh, what the hell. The whole cover letter thing's such a stupid hoop to jump through, anyway. What, they're going to say, "Huh. Look at this cover letter. So clearly not quite what we had in mind! Let's not even look at her resume"? Sending now, so I can go get ready!

That only took me two hours.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Emily, go get ready. You've only got an hour now!

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Er, where does NY seltzer come from?

The seltzer delivery guy! They come in glass bottles in a wooden crate! Made of awesome!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The seltzer delivery guy! They come in glass bottles in a wooden crate!

They have that in SF, I am told. It's probably a little hard to arrange for when you're just visiting, though.

You had to code things like bold and italic in WordStar and I think in the first version of Word.

Oh, how I hated WordStar. And with WordPerfect they had this little template thing you were supposed to place at the top of your keyboard so you knew which function key did what. And it was never the right version. I was sooo happy when they finally went to drop down menus.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

And with WordPerfect they had this little template thing you were supposed to place at the top of your keyboard so you knew which function key did what.

I remember that! I feel old now.

Since my hard drive crashed, I needed to reinstall Office, but my bootleg copy was corrupt, so I figured I'd go ahead a buy a copy. I can get some great educational discounts since I'm a student. I got Office 2007 and it's taking some getting used to.

It may be pricier than you were planning to go (generally in the $180-300 range for party dresses), but Watters has some totally gorgeous dresses in lickable colors all the way up to size 24.

Huh. I took a look at their site, and it appears that the Macy's closest to where I work carries their dresses. I'm trying Nordstrom tomorrow since Filene's Basement and H&M were a bust today, and I may just pop over to Macy's on my lunch to see what's what.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I cleaned out my cube today. And was reminded what a packrat I am -- there were ten bags of various sizes and bulging capacities, and two medium-size boxes. That's what ten years of accumulation looks like....

I also filled four office-size bins with scrap paper to be recycled, so I feel at least a little virtuous.

My ex-coworkers were all gratifyingly distressed for me, too. I'm almost to the place where I'm feeling worse for the people I'm leaving behind than myself.

Later on, there will be grumbling from me about having to write cover letters, go on interviews where I'm sure I've clicked and then never hear back, et cetera. There's a lot of angst to come, I'm sure, but at the moment I'm choosing a certain amount of optimism about it.

What is even happening?

I second JZ's love of Watters and Watters.
