It may be pricier than you were planning to go (generally in the $180-300 range for party dresses), but Watters has some totally gorgeous dresses in lickable colors all the way up to size 24.
Huh. I took a look at their site, and it appears that the Macy's closest to where I work carries their dresses. I'm trying Nordstrom tomorrow since Filene's Basement and H&M were a bust today, and I may just pop over to Macy's on my lunch to see what's what.
I cleaned out my cube today. And was reminded what a packrat I am -- there were ten bags of various sizes and bulging capacities, and two medium-size boxes. That's what ten years of accumulation looks like....
I also filled four office-size bins with scrap paper to be recycled, so I feel at least a little virtuous.
My ex-coworkers were all gratifyingly distressed for me, too. I'm almost to the place where I'm feeling worse for the people I'm leaving behind than myself.
Later on, there will be grumbling from me about having to write cover letters, go on interviews where I'm sure I've clicked and then never hear back, et cetera. There's a lot of angst to come, I'm sure, but at the moment I'm choosing a certain amount of optimism about it.
I second JZ's love of Watters and Watters.
According to my crazy busybody neighbor (as opposed to the crazy russian one who argues loudly with invisible people) the pet food contamination is the terrorists going after our pets.
Just thought you all would want to know that.
She's very sweet, just a bit...off.
And with WordPerfect they had this little template thing you were supposed to place at the top of your keyboard so you knew which function key did what.
I remember that. I think I mostly used vi instead, at the time.
I got my mile swim down to 69 minutes! And I kicked on my stomach for 9 more minutes! Yay!!
Now I have to do my dishes so I can actually eat my dinner. Boo!!
Kathy, my daughter and some friends are doing a mini-trialthalon in July. The swim is only a half a mile, I think you should do it, too. Seriously, that is awesome!
I want to get below 300 before I start doing any competitions. My sister has done some mini-triathalons and finds them a blast--I might join her for one next summer!
We have seltzer! It's called Calistoga! Or Perrier! Or uh the Italian one. Pelligrino!
That's not seltzer. Totally different animal.
Gore's legislative recommendations to the House
1. An immediate "carbon freeze" that would cap U.S. CO2 emissions at current levels, followed by a program to generate 90% reductions by 2050.
2. Start a long-term tax shift to reduce payroll taxes and increase taxes on CO2 emissions.
3. Put aside a portion of carbon tax revenues to help low-income people make the transition.
4. Create a strong international treaty by working toward "de facto compliance with Kyoto" and moving up the start date for Kyoto's successor from 2012 to 2010.
5. Implement a moratorium on construction of new coal-fired power plants that are not compatible with carbon capture and sequestration.
6. Create an "ELECTRANET" -- a smart electricity grid that allows individuals and businesses to feed power back in at prevailing market rates.
7. Raise CAFE standards.
8. Set a date for a ban on incandescent light bulbs.
9. Create "Connie Mae," a carbon-neutral mortgage association, to help defray the upfront costs of energy-efficient building.
10. Have the SEC require disclosure of carbon emissions in corporate reporting, as a relevant "material risk."
Um. I hope there will be some exceptions to #8.
