All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Five W-2s, Five 1099s. That's fewer than the last couple of years.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Our community garden is coming along nicely!

I put in impatiens and aloe and some other stuff, my neighbors went for snapdragons and daisies.

One of my neighbors spray painted the ugly chipped rusty table and chairs a lovely chocolate brown and got some butter yellow seat cushions for the chairs. Her sister (who also lives in the building) bought a barbecue grill for us, and some solar lights to put along the path.

I got a sparkly welcome mat and brought out some funky candle holders and a table cloth.

Another neighbor brought down some beer and ordered pizza, and we had a little fire in the barbecue.

Nice!

Swouncing

Aaaand skipping again, to post that, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is beth's birthday.

Happy birthday, beth! With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!

move out and draw fire

They were "reminding" the grieving family that God had intentionally allowed their child to get killed because of our country's failure to be as rabidly homophobic as this "church" is. Improvised Explosive Devices are apparently holy instruments of God's displeasure.

So, they are jihadists, basically. I mean, Bin Ladin's fatwa called for Americans to be killed because we're so immoral...same message.

I guess if you're white, you get fined rather than sent to Guantanamo.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Happy birthday, beth!

Get better, y'all. I guess I am better than I was, since I woke up before my alarm this morning (due to sirens, but I didn't need to go back to sleep), so that's good.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh, well, that's nice. Bush and McCain both felt compelled yesterday to temper their remarks on Va Tech with a reiteration of their support for the right to bear arms.

hip deep in pie

Happy Birthday Beth!

I stayed home yesterday feeling vaguely crappy after a weekend of feeling vaguely crappy. I thinkit helped. And I was feeling well enough last night to start making curtains for my kitchen, and they are the cutest things ever, hot pink gingham with a band of pink and green paisley through them.

Our wings are not tired.

happy birthday beth!

Bad news for bacon lovers - Bacon is bad for the lungs. [link]

A Columbia University team found people who ate cured meats at least 14 times a month were more likely to have COPD - chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Sad stuff there.

I hope today is better Sue. The curtains do indeed sound cute.

I am home feeling vaguely crappy. I'd have gone in except Eve has a fever. I gave her Motrin and now she's all peppy. And I wanted to get some rest! This is why medicine is bad. On the plus side, TV is good.

I'll be damned if V. Tech had two completely unrelated shooting incidents in one day, which still seems to be a possibility. Sadly, I think "domestic" shootings at colleges are pretty common - there have been 2 that I know of in NC in the past few years. I can see how they never imagined there would be a mass killing spree later (even if they were connected).
