According to my 'This day in History' e-mail, the 16th has been relatively free of historic tragic events since an English army defeated a Scottish force under Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) at the Battle of Culloden in 1746.

I'm having Highlander flashbacks. Bad wigs, bad accents, but at least Dougray Scott and Peter Wingfield made good eye candy.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, I'm watching Work Out on Bravo for the first time, and it is truly amazing how people can make their living on reality tv -- one of the trainers is Rebecca from the Amazing Race (with the ex-boyfriend with the wierd hair)! So of course Victoria Fuller comes in for a workout, of Jonathan and Victoria infamy. She's also a former Playmate, so of course The Girls Next Door threw her a baby shower, and now she's trying to lose the baby weight. Madness.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I was watching Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School this morning. This is something like the fifth in that line of spin-offs from The Surreal Life. (I couldn't stand watching Flavor of Love for more than about ten minutes, but Charm School was kind of entertaining.)

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

My Dad is April 20th, which is Hitler's Birthday.

That's my friend Alexia's birthday. She's come to dread it because so many horrible things have happened right around it for so many years.

Punishingly Intricate

I was watching Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School this morning.

I haven't seen that but, just from the title, it sounds like an American "Ladettes to Ladies"!!!

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

God--AP is now reporting 31 dead, including the (apparently lone) gunman.

I'm so sad I only caught Ladettes to Ladies at the very end. Maybe I should check out the Charm School.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

God--AP is now reporting 31 dead, including the (apparently lone) gunman.

I read on CBS News that the gunman is described as a "young, Asian male" who was heavily armed and wearing a vest.

It doesn't sound like he just snapped; it sounds like it was relatively planned out -- maybe failed a class, or something?

Kind of. It's Mo'Nique teaching the girls from Flavor of Love how to behave. (Step 1 was to get rid on the nicknames. Step 2 was to try to encourage teamwork.)

I found it interesting that this show mentioned a lot more about their real lives than most other reality shows I've seen. Like, most of them were talking about how much of a huge difference the $50,000 prize would make in their lives, one was saying how she hoped that being on this show would give her the self-confidence to stop smoking weed. Just about all of them said something like, "My mother was really embarassed by me on Flavor of Love, so I hope I can make her proud on this show."

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So they're no longer saying it was two separate shootings? with two separate gunmen?
