According to my 'This day in History' e-mail, the 16th has been relatively free of historic tragic events since an English army defeated a Scottish force under Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Ironically a bad day for kilt-wearing folk.

Now tagless for your comfort.

YIKES! An ex-coworker of mine lives in Blacksburg. That's just horrible.

I'm having Highlander flashbacks. Bad wigs, bad accents, but at least Dougray Scott and Peter Wingfield made good eye candy.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, I'm watching Work Out on Bravo for the first time, and it is truly amazing how people can make their living on reality tv -- one of the trainers is Rebecca from the Amazing Race (with the ex-boyfriend with the wierd hair)! So of course Victoria Fuller comes in for a workout, of Jonathan and Victoria infamy. She's also a former Playmate, so of course The Girls Next Door threw her a baby shower, and now she's trying to lose the baby weight. Madness.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I was watching Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School this morning. This is something like the fifth in that line of spin-offs from The Surreal Life. (I couldn't stand watching Flavor of Love for more than about ten minutes, but Charm School was kind of entertaining.)

That's my friend Alexia's birthday. She's come to dread it because so many horrible things have happened right around it for so many years.

Punishingly Intricate

I was watching Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School this morning.

I haven't seen that but, just from the title, it sounds like an American "Ladettes to Ladies"!!!

God--AP is now reporting 31 dead, including the (apparently lone) gunman.
