Ooops. Sorry she asked for a blueberry bagel. Freudian slip.

Natter Area 51: The Truthiness Is in Here
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Happy Birthday Lillian! What a gorgeous child she is...and how prescient Plei's quote.
Hey, anybody interested in exercising your creative critique muscles?
The team helping me to rebrand my business is at a standstill because each is disagreeing with the other. There are a lot of oh noes! and not enough this will works.
In the meanwhile, I'm tapping my fingers, missing opportunities and feeling like I can't send anything out until we get it right.
To that end, I would love to hear some unvarnished suggestions for improving this very rough homepage design and this stab at a logo.
I won't say what others have said, good or bad, to ensure a clean control group. But I will express frustration with content free critique. I nearly burst into tears this afternoon, wanting to shout, DUDE, I get that it doesn't say what you think ought to be said, but NOT saying what you think ought to be said isn't going to get it said!"
Note: The major text is the very roughest of drafts. It's already changed a bit...but any thoughts on that would be helpful too. And the article titles are place holders.
I'd be grateful for any impressions, thoughts on the color palette, navigation points, overall design, and anything else that comes to mind.
Profile addy is good.

And adding Buffistas to this team will...
Point taken.
But more input...from folks who don't know me...might just shake something loose.
More than anything, I need to get unstuck.
eta: I have to run out right now and don't want to clutter the thread with my stuff...so, if it seems like a fun timesuck, please comment via email.
I know. I just couldn't resist. I hope things start flowing better for you, Beej.
Thanks!
I thought I had this asking for help thing figured out...but now it's ground down into a morass that is sadly reconfirming my original, not so optimistic view about creating a business presence...and how I suck at it.
So, all good luck accepted!
Okay, eww. Also, you can still do that?
I'm leaving for Union Station in about ten minutes. I haven't remembered forgetting anything yet, so I guess that's good.

Some initial thoughts, hope they're helpful. Okay, what I like:
The colors -- you're promoting calm and order, these are soothing colors. I like the logo for much the same reason. The leaves and the lines are very organic and soothing.
I like the opening text, I like that you mentioned that you're trained.
What I don't like:
The font (cataneo?) is beautiful, but it appears funny, not fully realized. Some fonts do that, so I would change that
The menu items on the top are too small. Perhaps in a different font that wouldn't matter as much
You refer to yourself as Bj [last name]. Shouldn't that be B J [last name]?
Thank you Vortex! You actually said what I was thinking, for the most part. Fuel for my argument!
Nope, the j is actually just a j...no periods. Odd, I know.
The comment I got today was [whitefonted for those you want to look at the design unspoiled] that the colors are 'too feminine' .
Whuhuh?
