Finally got Yahoo to work. Now I think I shall go home and get ready to Scolapalooz.

Say hi to Tom for me.
According to jetBlue, the Scolapaloza Express has just entered Illinois airspace....
Woo!
Ker-rist. West LA checking in, and fucking windstorm here too. Banners are almost torn from lightposts, too much dust in the air to keep your windows open (my car now smells like cedar, but is appreciably dustier inside and out).
Good day to have a mini-fro. Bad day to be wearing a circle skirt.
And a bad day to be a small dog, leashed or no.

Oh dear. I don't suppose you managed to get a picture of this?
I was reminded today that my haircut is awesome. I didn't do jack to it this morning, and walked through driving wind and rain multiple times, and it still looks pretty darn good.

I was too busy clutching my circle skirt. But I had to come home and change anyway, so in a couple minutes I will be windproof and heading back out.
I keep wanting to stand at the window and watch the dust storm over the hills (which seems to have blown all its particulate matter further west, for the moment). But when I get near the windows for any length of time, a series of gusts will rattle the windows in their frames and I feel a sudden urge to take five big steps back, away from the big sheets of glass. Noaa is saying the gusts are peaking at 35mph.
Apparently it's not just a dust storm obscuring the hills. Part of Beverly Hills is on fire: [link] They're forcibly evacuating people.
