Oh my gosh, FrankenB -- you've joined the 21st century! Now do you realize what the rest of us have been saying you'd enjoy?

Yes, and I was the last boy on my block to get a CD player (vs. turntable, which I still have, along with way too much vinyl), a DVD player (vs. VCR, which I still have along with way too many tapes) and a cell phone (the first one of which I was given to me by a friend, but which I just upgraded for my road trip). Oh, and I only went to DSL (vs. dial-up) in the last six months.

Not sure if I'm a luddite, or just lazy.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I still don't have a cell phone, but they will pry my DVR out of my cold dead hands.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

See, I agree this season has been wack (though I missed a big chunk of it early on because of HEROES and not having DVR at the time), but I'm still enjoying it. I think I gave up on there being remotely any plausibility season one with Terri's amensia in any case.

Plausibility (or lack thereof) doesn't bother me. What I'd like is a little more continuity from a show that only has ONE FRIGGING DAY of its characters lives to remember at a time.

I mean, Audrey being alive, whatever. I like Kim Raver (OMG her name is even Kim...) so that's cool. And it gets Jack back into S1 "threaten my family and I cut you to hell with protocol" mode, which could be fun since he's been playing the good cop all season.

But in this ep alone there were two "wait, when did they have time to plan THAT?!?!?!" moments, which really shouldn't happen in something that's supposedly taking place in real time. At least when it happened on BtVS, we had magic telepathy as an excuse.

Anyway, I think I'm going to tell the Tivo to tell 24 that it's been great and we should keep in touch, but I love Heroes more.

My DVR is what made me realize I needed to stop watching 24. It was always the last thing I chose to watch and I finally realized I just didn't care what happened.

That's me and Lost. I'd have deleted it ages ago except that DH still watches.

We are just plain skinflinty. Why bother with getting a DVR when we have a VCR that still works? (I KNOW they are very different but we are working on paying less for tv, not more.)

I was right there with you for a long time, but DAMN if it's not a good deal for $15/month to be able to (a) watch a show and record another (or record two), (b) immediately rewind a show if I missed something while I was out of the room and (c) set season passes for shows or create one of my own via manual recording like I did for TDS/TCR so that I don't get every single instance of a new episode. And I haven't even gotten to the point of putting stuff on tape without commercials. It'll also save a lot of wear and tear on my VCR, which are getting harder to find (not unlike turntables).

Things I do not have: DVR, cell phone, dishwasher. Guess which one I regret most?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, god, dishwasher.

Dishwasher, totally.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It'd be a tossup between cell and DVR. Those are both useful, and I hate working around them.

I dislike emptying the dishwasher (it's had clean stuff in it a day or two so far) as much as I dislike emptying the drainer. Okay, more, because more stuff fits in it. I don't mind washing, mostly.
