Reavers ain't men. Or they forgot how to be. Now they're just nothing. They got out to the edge of the galaxy, to that place of nothing, and that's what they became.

OK, now I have to go call my mom. (Seriously, she called me as soon as I got home for an update. MOM! I'll call once I know something. You know that!)

Southern: porches and sweating glasses of a cold bev.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Here's to hoping that this means her lungs will get better and better and she'll grow stronger and stronger.

Yes, this.

I had fried okra for the first time yesterday! Yay fried.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Thanks, everyone. I'm looking forward to some uneventful days now. Please.

Allyson, how much do I love that the woman who is reccing your book for PW is at Book People, my all time favorite bookstore not named Vromans? I love Book People enough that it almost convinced me that I could live in Austin.

Seriously, that one intersection in Austin with Book People, Waterloo Records, and Whole Foods? Megan heaven.

brillig

PBS is doing a story on Jonestown. I'm remembering being 17, horrified, and baffled again.

It boggles me to think of adult, contributing members of society who don't have the immediate, visceral reaction I do to those videos of stillness and that vat of purple liquid.

Sorry to be a downer.
