Just talked to co-worker. His daughter and roommate are going to be fine. There was some bureaucratic nightmare stuff - since the robbers had stolen her wallet, she didn't have ID to get the prescriptions post-ER - but that's all taken care of.

It makes you believe in miracles. They tied her up, cut her throat, severing the caratoid. Then, believing that was that, they untied her and took the ropes, so they couldn't be fingerprinted. If they hadn't done that, she couldn't have called the police.

The roommate who was shot in the head at close range? The bullet never entered the skull, just sort of orbited it.

Score two for the good guys.

That is an insane story. I'm so glad they are going to be okay. I'd imagine it'll be harder for the emotional scars to heal.

Sometimes I wonder about my mind, that my first thought on reading that was "Damn, that would cause a mess of blood", then second "I wonder if the caliber of the bullet was too small," and only then, "Lucky girl."
