Giles: Stop that, you two. Riley: He started it... Xander: He called me a bad name! I think it was bad; it might have been Latin.

Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Yesterday at work was of the suck.

I work for a place that makes software for POS touchscreen machines. Most of these cash registers are running on Windows XP,although some of the older ones are running NT, 2000 or even Windows 95. They all tie into a back office computer, usually running Windows XP.

We got a network patch that we distributed in advance to all stores we could get to and ran it on their back office machines. The program went out to the registers and patched the time zone issue, and reported done.

Except that on a large number of sites, the software lied. On these sites the patch apparently didn't run on the registers, but it ran on the back office and reported OK.

And Oh! the phone calls we had. We had to call in extra people and the supervisor and the head of the helpdesk came back in to help at the end of the day so I could go home only a couple of hours after the end of my shift.

Thank you Bill Gates for hardcoding in the DST dates. Thank you congress.

Ironically the stores with Win95 and NT and 2000 were mostly OK, because we had spent extra time on them.

Because books.

Oh, Cash, I hope you get this worked out today and the meds kick in really quick. It's really appalling and shortsighted that the doctor didn't prescribe those meds on Friday.

I love "The Night Chicago Died" too! Also on my tape.

Yay for the cute in Columbus, Nora! Welcome home.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I thought Tanya Tucker sang Delta Dawn. I might be misremembering--or maybe TT did a cover of it.

All is well that ends in pizza.

TT did the original, but it only hit the country charts, Helen did a cover and it hit the stratosphere. [link]

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

AHA!

"Delta Dawn" was a song written by former child rockabilly star Larry Collins and songwriter Alex Harvey, and recorded by a number of artists, most notably Helen Reddy and Tanya Tucker. Tucker's version went to number 6 on the country music charts, and Reddy's topped the Billboard charts.

Hey Cash- I'm sorry about the whole horrible saga of trying to get your prescription... and that today is not going so well.

Thanks, Nora! That explains it. I'm only familiar with the TT version. My parents listened to country while I was growing up.

Our wings are not tired.

Cindy, I always thought you were a very nice person, but sending the Ick to Amy's house was unacceptable behavior. Time out for you, missy. Also, your representative is on my list.

Yes, I spent much time this weekend and this morning dealing with time change issues on people’s systems. My own phone hasn’t changed, but I haven’t managed to get around to dealing with that. I think it changes when I sync it with my computer.

{{Cashmere}} I hope your doctor does whatever it takes to get you some relief quickly.

Our wings are not tired.

Oh, I had the most unpleasant dream Sunday morning. I had awful allergy (or maybe a cold) issues this weekend while I was at my mom's house. My head was so congested, ears, throat, uck. And she didn't have anything in her house to help. After an uncomfortable night I was dreaming in the morning that I had to edit the registry entry to clear my sinuses. But I didn’t have administrative rights and I kept trying to hack around. Yet I just never could manage to edit the stupid registry. It would take my changes, but when I would go back in the change was gone. Alas, I do not remember what the key was that controlled sinuses. In summary, I work too much.

brillig

Sign that the time change is doing my brain in:

I'm eating popcorn at my desk. I've only got a desk lamp on in the office. I reach for a little piece of popcorn and have it almost to my mouth when I realize it's fuzzy. I say outloud, "Do not eat the lint, Connie."

Fortunately no one is around to hear me.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

#1 song on my birthday - MacArthur Park. Ha!
