Silverplate isn't pure silver; it's some other base metal with silver electroplated onto it as a coating. It it therefore cheaper than pure silver, but it can tarnish just the same. It's more durable (fork tines and knife blades don't tend to bend or break off).

Hm, that's probably what the "silver" that I have is. Which does not include table settings or a coffee service, so ... I might very well be interested.
As long as I don't think about where to store it. But DH has been wanting a silver coffeepot and /or teapot for EVER. OTOH, I never entertain.

Random question: does anyone know if it's possible to have the heels on a pair of boots completely changed? Say, if a pair of boots had impossibly tall louis-style heels, could I take them somewhere and have those heels removed and replaced with more sturdy heels of a sensible height?
(I'm betting the answer is no, but I'm just not sure.)
