Congratulations again to SA!!! Good luck choosing a school.
My therapist is sending my test results and a bunch of other information to my PCP. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can get all this taken care of this week, and then I can concentrate on figuring out a paper topic for Physiological Psychology that I actually understand enough to write about. Sorry that I have been so whiny lately. The ducks are tiny, but they're getting to me.
AmyLiz, I hope the interview went well and that all your money is back in your account by tomorrow. How does someone withdraw $1000 from an ATM anyway? Isn't there usually a limit on ATM withdrawls?
My life is "just" boring...who knew I'd ever be glad about that?
Random question: does anyone know if it's possible to have the heels on a pair of boots completely changed? Say, if a pair of boots had impossibly tall louis-style heels, could I take them somewhere and have those heels removed and replaced with more sturdy heels of a sensible height?
(I'm betting the answer is no, but I'm just not sure.)
Jilli, I'm totally talking out of my ass here, but I'm thinking the answer is no. If you change the height of the heel you'll change the angle of the boot in relation to the ground (and the point where the front of the boot contacts the ground), as well as the angle of the ankle. I would think that boots are designed to a specific set of angles. If you did this it'd be as if you were walking while leaning backwards, and the ankle part of the boot might not like that.
::waits for someone who knows what they're talking about::

possibly, but you'd have to find more than your garden variety shoe repair place. You'd have to find a place that could replace a broken heel. And it might cost you a lot.
Vortex! in answer to a question you asked a while ago, I think you should change your hair for the F2F - you'll enable the traditional Buffista greeting!
I was thinking what Tommy said, but I didn't want to say it for the same reason. Also, if the heels are high, I would imagine that the soles are pretty stiff and I"m not sure how you would bend them to the right angle.
I have gotten heels completely replaced when they were all worn down before. Shoe repair places can do some amazing things. I can't see how you could change the height, really, but changing the type of heel seems likely to be possible, and maybe there's magic that can be dpne with the height.
tommyrot, that's kind of what I was thinking. Which is probably for the best, because I do not need ANY reason to think I could make these boots practical in any way. Because they run about 400 Euros, and I should not covet boots that are that pricey.
But oh gracious, they're pretty.
