Hmm.
There's a strong potential for cracktastical suckage in that line up.
And while they're not exactly the B List, I'm not sure I'd call it a veritable who's who of comic book writing talent. (Vaughan and Loeb, perhaps, but isn't JLA only Meltzer's third comic book project after Archer's Quest and Identity Crisis? I mean, these are all people famous for writing, but most of them aren't famous for writing comic books.)
Err.
Possibly, I'm talking out of my eyeroll, here.

Who's on your dream team of Buffy comic book writers?
Gail Simone? Personally, I'd really like to see Alan Moore go at it. He always seems to understand the essential core/mythic worth of iconic characters.
Simone has the dialogue touch needed, for certain.
And I think that, when he's not Banging the Issue Stick, Winick can also balance the funny/serious as required. Peter David (who has worked in the 'verse before) would also be an excellent choice.
Ooo!
As this is all my pipe dream, can I bring Gruenwald back from the dead, so long as I promise not to bring him back wrong?
I think Jane E. has been the most successful comic writer out of the ME stable, after Joss. (Success here meaning "knows how to write for the medium.")

Your wish is granted. Long live Jambi.
It makes me sad to think of all the things Gruenwald could have written in the last decade.
Stupid heart defects. Stupid death.
(I go all Anya over it.)
Brian K. Vaughan is going to be writing for
Lost.
Also, Joss is writing
Runaways
and Vaughan is writing
Buffy?
How funny.
If we wanted a bleak, action-oriented take on the characters, Ellis would be a good choice. And Jamie Delano could bring the über-creepy. Also, the proper voice for a self-absorbed iconoclastic Brit with no compassion, if they wanted Spike for a guest appearance.
