How was GA, Elais?
I went to the comic shop to get Astonishing and spotted GA with Speedy on the cover. After reading about that character being the one with HIV, I decided to get it too.
GA
It starts out with Speedy (don't know her name) giving a talk about HIV in front of a group of students. GA gets into a fighty fight with Brick, Speedy convinces GA to let her become his side-kick, end of story. I kinda liked Speedy's arguement at the end, but the dialogue and artwork seemed came across as a little too dumbed-down.
Astonished seemed to have said a lot more using less dialogue and the artwork told more of the story as well.
This did feel like quite a busy Astounishing, for a Joss comic. As for GA, there seems to be some equation between
public service announcement and pedantic/didactic. Not that it even has to be a PSA.
Oy. I just realised that the bit that made me laugh so loudly from Astounishing was the same payoff from
Earshot.
Ah, well. Good comedy endures.
GA probably needs to be read in context of the actual story arc to be appreciated (it's part 3 of the storyline, IIRC), though the issue is a little too close to Winick's heart, may lead to him getting a touch preachy.
As a comic book writer overall however, especially including his Barry Ween stuff, he's a better writer than Joss. (V4 of Barry Ween is the stuff of sheer perfection.)
Is there a new penciller on GA? I mean, I know one is coming on board, I just don't know with which issue.
The penciller in this issue is Phil Hester. This is the first time I've picked up a GA comic, so I have no idea if he is new or not.
Correction: There is a blurb at the back that says Tom Fowler and Rodney Ramos will be starting with the next issue.
Enjoyed Astonishing X-Men muchly.
Now that Identity Crisis is over, I'm wondering what the heck was up with the sale-gone-wrong of one of Luthor's exo-suits in issue #1. Did that ever tie into goings-on elsewhere in the DC-verse, as it ended up having nothing to do with the IC storyline at all.

I can answer that, but it would be spoily.
Steph can you whitefont? At least which title gets the followup?
Teen Titans,
after
Titans Tomorrow.
Steph is correct. And the Tians also get Dr. Light.
In other news--Green Lantern: Reborn has me turning all shades of fanboy. I am giddy as a ferret in a laundry hamper.
