Hey. New board.

I picked up the first three issues of Rogue the other day, and actually enjoyed them quite a lot. Anybody else reading it? The first issue of Nightcrawler kinda stunk, though.

Hmm. I just realized that the comics I'm reading regularly are Ultimate X-Men, Astounishing, and now Rogue. When did I turn into an X-Men fan and leave the Batverse behind?

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Possibly the same time I became a Batverse fan and left the Spideyverse behind.

Art Crawl!!!

Teppy -- have you really left the Spideyverse behind? That's kind of sad.

(Obviously, there is something the creates balance amongst fans of various comic-verses)

Not in a "Spidey SUCKS!" kind of way; more of an Ultimate-Spidey-was-getting-too-navel-gazey-for-me way. And that was the only Spidey title I was reading. It's not that I'm not a Spidey fan, because he's my main man, yo. I'm just giving Ultimate a rest for now.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

Ultimate titles lately have been enjoying the meta-references a bit much, making excuses to throw in imagery and such from the 616 Universe a bit liberally (prime example in UXM 52, with Jean's "third-grade Halloween costume" being identical to one of the classic Marvel Girl outfits from the 60s/70s).

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

I picked up "Identity Crisis" #5 on the way to work.

Gack. There is carnage. And how many things connect now confuse me more than ever.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

And how many things connect now confuse me more than ever.

Yeah...who the crap is Captain Boomerang? Is he a villain or a hero? Is it normal for him to go around killing people? And why does his son have speed? Who's his son? Who the fuck is the Monocle? Who were all those people? What the fuck is going on? Why is Firestorm dead? Do I care?

The War Games titles were pretty good this week. Very nice panel layout in the last two pages of Batgirl.

more of an Ultimate-Spidey-was-getting-too-navel-gazey-for-me way.

The latest issue is called "Jump the Shark." And it involves, apparently, the notion that Logan and Peter have inexplicably switched bodies.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Yeah...who the crap is Captain Boomerang?

P.C., Captain Boomerang is a member of Flash's rogues gallery, albeit an aging one, so he's a villain. He's sort of a boomerang version of Green Arrow or Merlyn. He's also been featured throughout IC, so I find your surprise at seeing him, well, surprising.

The fact that his son has speed powers is a complete asspull.

P.C.

Huh. That's a new one.

I'm not surprised at seeing him. I just wasn't sure whether he was a hero or villain, and I was going to be more confused if he was supposed to be a hero. The whole "Captain" thing threw me off. And the touching father/son bonding moments. Et cetera.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Isn't Jesse Quick too young to be the mother of Boomerang's son? I can't think of any other female 20th century speedsters .

Unless Professor Zoom was more of a Reverse Flash than we'd previously been led to believe ...
